US extends sanctions against Iran

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Thursday he was extending sanctions against Iran as it continued to pose an "extraordinary threat" to the national security, foreign policy and economy of the United States.
in.reuters.com...

Now thats what I call extending the olive branch of peace.

I recall Obama saying he wanted to talk to Iran, something that hasn't been done for 30 years and now he goes and pulls this one out.
could have shown good faith and waited until after the talks before continuing with the sanctions.

But if you want to go to war with a ME country, it has been proven you have sanctions against them for years first.

Man, the more he knows about the 'real' world the more he looks like a Bush on a spending spree. Or is it another meat puppet?

Never seen such an absolute flip flop and I've seen quite a few presidents now. They ALL reneged on campaign promises but this Obama dude is over the top.

Signed a bill that 'he wanted so bad' in private? Excrement-o-meter is going off the scale. Seems like someone dragged him into an office *cough*Pelosi* to have a talk with him and said 'just sign it'.

Diplomacy at this stage isn't going to matter.

Iranian leadership needs to change for us to have a better relations with them.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one....but i'd really like him to pull all troops home..everywhere...as soon as possible.

Also..this comes just days after it was revealed Obama sent a secret letter to Russia asking them to help with stopping Iran's nuclear program in exchange for stopping our missile defense shield out there. Russia blew us off....then this happens.

I think now that he is getting all of these briefings he was not privy to as a Senator he is finally seeing that it isn't as easy as he thought it would be.

He new the economy was bad, everybody saw that. World issues though aren't that easy to distinguish from the outside. I think he is getting a dose of what President Bush had to deal with and is seeing that tough unpopular decisions are going to have to be made.

Those Iranians seem to have a lot of teenage angst towards everything.

If Obama wanted to talk with Iran about stuff he'd start somewhere at some level of officials. Nope, Sanctions are reinforced... That's not talk nor does it infer anything even close to friendly.

It will be months if not years before anything more happens between us and Iran.

I well remember the deer in the headlights look that Obama had on his face following the national security briefing he received the Thursday after he won the election. I suppose he found out more since then. Oh, wait, you mean this is for real and it's going to happen anyway?

It doesn't cost anything to sanction (prohibit) Flowers.com or Dominoes.com from delivering anything into Iran. I dunno about GE though. everyone needs lightbulbs and radioactive Microwave Ovens.

Man this puppet is on such a short string, he probably has someone talking in his earpiece telling him when to breath, with stuff like this , you can move the nuclear clock 1 minute closer.

something is going to give, times like this, we need more talk, not less
