i am so fed up, really fed up.

i am not sure what makes me more furious, everytime the same stupid and boring comments or the intolerant way of thinking of my fellow country men.

story:
i use to dye my hair red and green - i use to do this since 1999. most people don.t know me differently!

but each time when i have been at the hairdresser or tell my girlfriends here that i am intend to go to the hairdresser, they can.t help to comment: "have you thought about a different hair color, i mean green is so extraordinary, maybe brownish will suit you better"
without myself asking for a comment about the hair color, if i am certain about something in my life: it is my hair color!

yesterday even this was topped.

a friend from colege saw the latest pictures and commented:
oh you stick to the green streak, i mean you would also look good without it, yeah but it is so much easier for you living in the capital than for me living in the province. you must have got lots of people with red and green hair

i explained, that even living in the capital doesn.t mean that everybody got colorful hair and no nasty comment by conservative youngsters

she still claims that she can.t do it at her place.
and don.t think she is living in the country side
her city is even bigger than mine coz it is the hugest metropolitan area in my country - a city made out of 10 cities i guess.

she would never tell brownish hair girls or blondish hair girls to switch to black, brown or red
but she and all the others can.t stand the green.

according to their way of thinking i would have more chances with men if i won.t have a green streak. :bnghd:

i just want to break those closed minded brains open!

on the contrary my american, and british friends never show this intolerance.

thanks for listening.

Hunny, I don't know what the German for "sod off" is, but that's what you need to tell them...politely if you can. Your hair is gorgous, and so are you, and the guy who finds you will be very lucky indeed.

oh cait i am absolutly capabale to tell them the german word of it - politely and with rage if necessary.

a person who doesn.t like my hair - either man or woman - can
off

i really don.t want all these
comments any more.
even if i won.t like the haircut of a friend, i don.t have to tell her / him all the time. it is kind of not accepting the person the way she / he is - when i keep refering to the hair cut all the time.

*have to stop ranting*

thanks for your input cait

very much appreciated

edit:
and i still don.t get the stuff, when i am telling them that i will stick to my green:
"oh i really don.t mind that"

WHY the
do they have to mention it than?

:bnghd:

Have you ever thought about changing it to orange??? (Just kidding…
)

Green is the colour of hope and red the colour of love. You should always keep them, both in your hair and in your heart… I'm sure they look amazing on you!

Just for you, a red&green orange…

It takes a lot of strength to dress or do other things to our body that doesn't conform to the norm.

As long as you have green and or orange streaks in your hair ignorant people will have off handed comments to make to you. This goes with the territory and we do better if we ignore or laugh off the remarks.

I dressed and acted like my parents wanted me to until I was 18 years old in 1965. After that I became the odd one in our group of friends.

Last month I was 62 years old and am still the odd one. When I go to music concerts, art festivals, or really anytime I desire I will wear a pink or blue streak in my natural blond hair. I do get some strange looks but I just keep smiling and enjoy my inner peace and freedom.

Life is short. Be yourself with no reservations. Just understand that your self expression can and will cause some unpleasant reactions from silly, anal people.

You rock.

Peace.

that sounds great dizziedame - pink or blue in blonde hair

today i got again comments

they think it is too extraordinary and that one can.t easily get used to it.
and comparing the change of brunette hair to blonde or red wouldn.t be the same

i mean coloring is coloring, and color is color no matter if it is green brown, red, blonde or blue

i usually ignore the comments - especially if they are by youngsters
those usually can.t stand to look different than their peers

red-and-green that is me
i used that as an argument and guess what they say: but you will still be you without the green
yup might be, but less expressed! and again much more adjusted to an ordinary life!

so i have no problems with the guys at the metro station who have to comment anything
but i meanwhile get really upset by those comments of my "so-called" friends who seem not being able to accept me the way i am!
that is a different story than just hair color

You know I have to admit, I actually like girls who have dyed there hair a color such as green or red. It indicated to me that they have a wild side and can be spontanius. I like that in a girl.

Do not change a thing. Not for me, but for yourself. If others have a problem with you just because of the color of your hair, then they probably arent all that fun to be around anyway.

I hate it when people tell me I need to change because it is obvious the only reason they want me to change is because it suits THEM...

If someone has an issue with the way I look I always tell them to eat poo (although I dont say it in the T&C acceptable way)

Peace and love

I think its awesome that you have your hair a different color! People that want to make nasty comments to you are probably just wishing they had the courage to be unconventional with their hair color too... I have black hair with hot pink highlights and I always get crap for it, but I shrug it off.

And for your friends that want to be catty and say you'd have a better chance with men, whatever. That is not true. Besides, if someone is not going to be into you based on something so trivial as hair color, then well you don't need them.

Keep your hair the way you like it and how you feel comfortable. xoxo for you!!!

gimme_some_truth i am always happy to figure out that there are people around who don.t mind people to look the way they want to look like
so thanks for that!

nope i don.t want to change to please people
although it becomes popular these days - atleast at my place - to claim that you can.t expect other people to change , that you can only change yourself

true and not true

i guess we all have to learn to accept each other the way we are!
i am still learning and i an also learning that people over here are not matured enough and not young enough to accept individualism.

maybe they will be able to find their way.
i won.t change for no one!

thanks HBStar
yeah sometimes i suspect them to that they are just moaning about being such courageless

there might be men who don.t like a girl who is a bit more individual, but i really doubt that such a guy would make me happy!

anyway: just as i stated before

i won.t change for no one

thanks to all who encouraged me

it was very helpful for me, beause sometimes - if all those "attacks" don.t stop - you will start pondering if they might not be right

no they are not right
just follow your dreams and stick to yourself!

I'm one of these folks who likes it "natural"...especially long and brown which is what I have. Down to my waist.

I used to dye it all sorts of colours and even went blonde when david bowie dyed his. (well....more sort of yucky orange actually!)

Bad hair days are when I've done loads of sanding or concretemixing and the tangles really drive me nuts even though I usually have it in a pony-tail.

Only comes down on special occasions and when it's on the pillow.. zzzzz

Had to cut a lump out of it once after some concrete had set in it....that was a REALLY bad hair day. ha ha.

Would never have it cut short now, not for anyone or anything.

I think the worst bad hair day for anyone would be when the last one fell out. Luckily, baldness doesn't run in my family..pwew! Why don't women go bald?

Cheers from hairy nerb.
