Mexican Drug Lord Makes Forbes Richest List

www.foxnews.com

How does a Mexican drug lord make it onto Forbes Magazine's list of the world's richest people? Apparently, by amassing a billion-dollar fortune as his country's most notorious drug trafficker.

Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, No. 701 on the list, heads the Sinaloa cartel, one of the biggest coc aine suppliers to the United States, according to Forbes.

The 51-year-old kingpin was arrested in 1993 on drug and murder charges but escaped from a Mexican prison in 2001, Forbes reported. The escape set off a wave of killing across Mexico, according to Reuters.

Drug violence between rival gangs has caused about 7,000 deaths in Mexico since the beginning of last year, and Guzman's Sinaloa cartel henchmen are considered some of the most vicious, Reuters reported.

Guzman often compared to the Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Luisa Kroll, senior editor of Forbes, told Reuters that Guzman was not available for interviews, "but his financial situation is doing quite well." The magazine based its estimate on figures from drug-trade analysts and the U.S. government.

Mexican and Colombian drug traffickers laundered between $18 billion and $39 billion in proceeds from wholesale shipments to the United States in 2008, Forbes reported.

He probably does.

It wouldn't surprise me if he was registered as a DC lobbyist.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news here but almost every family of breeding, wealth and distinction in the world, i.e. the Illuminati all have their wealth based in violent crime and drug smuggling. From the Queen of England, to the Bush Family and all the Rockefellers and Rothschilds in between, the origin of their wealth came from pirating the high seas, smuggling and promoting the opium trade and killing and war.

This guys grand children will hold political office and be the toast of galas, fund raisers and grand balls, and have the press cover their every sneeze and tear.

Crime is like any other job, it doesn't pay when you suck at it. When you are exceptional, well...the results throughout history speak for themselves.

Ben Franklin coined the saying: "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise"

Misunderstood common translation. go to bed shortly after sundown, wake up at the crack of dawn, work the whole day to the point of exhaustion. Don't spend the money you made because you are too tired. Wake up the next day and do it again.

Ben though himself was a notorious night owl and Lady's man. Early to bed to Ben meant right about the time the sun was coming up. Early to rise was right after the moon came up. He would stay up socializing all night in the Parisian nightclubs and restaurants, sharing ideas and hatching plans with the greatest minds and people of Europe and America, drink, eat and fornicate to excess. Yes he got very wealthy, healthy and wise doing it.

It's all in the translation. Ben was glad no one understood what he meant. It left fewer people to compete against for attention, wealth and the ladies.

Being exceptional is what pays.

Often one does though then have to make a little exception of a law here or there, or there or here, or well, pretty much all of them.

Yet federal authorities have no problems finding Americans, seems backwards to me.

At least he didn't killed over a million iraqis to make that kind of money. Ask Bush he can tell you about it.

Or ask Bush's grandfather how he made his fortune laundering money for the nazis.
