1000 words and im not sure how to make it short and sweet please help me thanks ats'ers
The fallout
It all began in my quiet peaceful town of fair field, New Jersey the year was 2010 the economic market died out in late 2009 since then our town has
relied on local food and water. Every day I used to go for a ride on my bike in the morning to look at the lush vegetation growing, the bird’s
harmonic chirping, the sound is absolute bliss. It was autumn at the time, I noticed the brown old crippled leafs slowly drifting onto the ground as
if it had a life of its own, trying to get home but slowly drifting away from its ‘friends’. I was always fascinated in nature always paying
attention to the small insignificant things in life.
Well back to my story, as I was coming home my wife called me, she sounded very distressed ‘’Jamie please come home now, New York has been
attacked our whole family is there!’’ she sounded very distraught disconnected from reality she began to break up in tears then my wife Samantha
hung up. I rode as fast as I could to get home. I became very worried; I have never heard her voice in that tone in my life. It’s as if everyone she
knew had just passed away without warning. I got home and looked for my wife she was sitting on the couch full of tears and feelings of anger and
sadness suddenly filled the room. I approached her; she told me that New York, Toronto and France had been attacked by a nuclear bomb. The moment I
heard that I dropped to the floor and realised our whole family lived in New York City. Samantha wept and said ‘’I have tried this whole time to
call everyone and no one is answering, not even their mobiles, Jamie!!’’. When our son Ben woke up, I told him the news which he didn’t take it
very well. he worried a lot as we only recently moved to New Jersey given that he had many friends in New York. A moment later the president had to
make a speech “my fellow Americans, our forensic investigators have investigated the bombs origins and they have originated from china and the other
bomb in Canada had originated from Iran, we have declared world war against the heinous crimes Iran and china have created that is all at the present
time I will be discussing’’. Then unexpectedly the TV turned to a black screen and a logo appears on the television that said “emergency
broadcasting system please await further orders’’. My wife and I were speechless, life as we knew was gone into a void. We could be dead before we
know it, I was always an avid collector of long life food in case of the worst and this seemed like the perfect situation.
The next few days were hell that 4 more nuclear bombs were blown off in Washington, Colorado, San Francisco and Chicago. Millions of people were
pronounced dead, people by the thousands were stealing and killing for food and food markets eventually went dry. I realised ultimately all food
getting sent to this town would finally stop and no food would be available, so I tried to think quick and drove to the local food markets. I arrived
there shocked that my jaw dropped to the ground as I was not the only one with worries about food. I got out of my car and from my disbelief people
were screaming, jumping on each other, punching, kicking just to get food. It was pure madness, normal people I once knew had turned into savage dogs
as if trying to get their last plate of food doing anything possible to survive. I decided to avoid the drama and travel back home to my wife and
child where I’d feel secure.
The fallout
When I got home, the president was making a speech. My wife was quiet not even saying a word given that she was shaking in disbelief. “everyone,
America is now under a new order that every civilian of each town will be escorted in 2 weeks time to an area where it will be safe from all trouble
and harm.” “many states have been in total carnage civilised citizens have turned into criminals just to get food not many states can be reached
due to nuclear radioactivity, but will eventually change all army personal will be in your town in 2 weeks time be careful and do not leave your home
unless it is life threatening thank you for your time’’. The screen turned into a solid black, no emergency icon just pure black, feelings of
sadness and no way out. My body was filled with fear that my wife and I will never see our child grow into a man and the thought brings me to
tears.
Seconds later, a random stranger jump through the window glass flows in all directions adrenaline is pumping through my veins not knowing what is
going on. Everything is going so rapid; to much to comprehend my brain is at an overload state. This ‘stranger’ has a gun in his hand. Panting and
cut up from his stupidity of jumping through glass, he screams out ‘’give me all your food now or your kid is gone, give it now!!’’ He points
the gun directly at Ben my only child. I feel threatened and engaged about to pounce at this stranger like a bear trying to capture his prey. I chose
not to take the foolish way; if I were to die my wife would not be able to defend herself. I obeyed this fiend and gave him the majority of our food.
He did not know we kept all the long life food in a secret area. I gave it all in a bag as my wife was distraught worrying for my life. This stranger
took all the food and left running into his car still pointing the weapon until I left his sight. My wife was shattered and did not know that I had a
ton of food hidden. When I told her she regained some of her sanity. She was going crazy, every family member was most likely dead and we were the
only people that she was close to. It was hard times we had to go through.
I needed time to think so I turned the TV on. It amazingly showed a report of what has been going on around the globe. France has been nearly blown to
shreds whilst many other countries are in turmoil the same as this riots, murders for food and stealing. The police have no control they are
outnumbered and not enough in this small town
