We had plenty land, engines stayed on, load passengers and take off with in minutes of landing. Augusta Airport is a fairly small place, not much traffic.

They were there on buisness (the ones without the clubs anyways) so I got no beef with them. I'm just saying all the things you mentioned aren't really needed if they call the tower prior to landing.

But I'm not going to back and forth with you about it. The way I see it we are both right. It depends on the airport and the traffic it sees. I can only speak of the one I worked at up until a few months ago. You sound like you been around a few more then me, so your view would be differant.

Actually, I agree that they could have flown to Warner Robbins, but there are still some that want the planes waiting for them. It just depends on the person flying. I also happen to think that they should cut down on flights allowed per year for Congress, or make them charter their own planes instead of using military flights. They would seriously cut down on their travel if they were paying for it themselves instead of getting free travel at the expense of the military.

One of the big problems is that the squadrons get a fixed budget for flying hours every year. These travel flights come out of that budget, so at the end of the year they have to get extra money given to their budget.

I've actually enjoyed this discussion, it's been fun.

My father was Senior Enlisted Adviser for a VIP squadron out at Hickam and I used to go work on their planes with him, so I picked up a few things about how they work and how they like to do things.

I could care less if she had to hitchhike. She hasn't done a damn thing that is useful for this country.

She's as good as fired in my mind.

Though I thoroughly agree with your first statement, the second just makes me want to scream - WAKE UP!

How many times on the boards do we read of peoples virtual disassociation???

“He’s NOT my President!”

“She’s as good as fired in my mind!”

“They are not going to control me!”

Well guess what kids!

He IS your president, Pelosi is NOT fired, and until you can get out of the crippling mind set of just because you think it’s so makes it so - They will control you!

Get off your duffs and make some of these *fantasies* into truth instead of fooling yourself into complacency with your *wish on a star* delusions!

If it is not OFFICIAL .. business.. quite frankly she can pay to fly her self. And nothing comes to mind that would require the SPEAKER to fly anywhere.

This goes for Presidents as well.. he shouldn't be allowed to fly AF1 unless its official national business.. not to fly to Iowa to give a campaign speech to corn farmers, and the likes such as that.

American Airlines A320 doesn't have the secure communications, .

Some of these flights she looked at were for family members.
Her husband doesn't need secure communications.
I'm willing to bet that she doesn't either.
The world will keep turning without her having a plane equiped like that.
She can carry a little football scramble phone like the POTUS if she has to.
(I'm willing to bet that she doesn't have to)
It would be cheaper and make more sense.

Way to take my statement COMPLETELY out of context. I was replying to the question of why the MILITARY has Gulfstream V aircraft. My statement had NOTHING to do with Pelosi or any other congressperson traveling.

Her family might not, but there have been times when things have come up that congresspeople have had to be able to talk about that required secure communications. If you really think that they don't discuss Top Secret information when they're traveling then you need to think again. Even if it's not Top Secret it may be things that they aren't ready to release to the public so they want to be able to talk about it on a secure line.

As to the scrambled phone, that would be great. They can have a call on the scrambled phone where they can't say anything about what's going on because the people around them don't have security clearance.

No, the military should be flying MAC 10 flights, or hops, like everyone else. The military brass has become just as elitists as the Pelosi types. They are all to hang by their toes.

Nancy Pelosi (D - CA) 8th District

She'll be in office forever.

The regular military FLIES ON a Space Available basis, which could be anything from a KC-135 to a C-5 or anything in between. Military flight crews FLY Gulfstream-V aircraft as VIP transports because you can't fly VIPs on KC-135s or C-5s. They don't have the capability to fly them, and it doesn't make sense to fly essential aircraft like those as VIP transports. They aren't set up for it, and they are required for other missions. Hence they have the Gulfstream-IV, V, 757 and 737 to fly VIPs around. This includes the military brass, since they have to do essential work during the flights. Little things like RUNNING THE DAMN MILITARY keep going on while they are traveling. The only aircraft that have the communications suites that they require are the VIP transports. Sometimes the commanders, such as PACAF and CINCPACFLT HAVE to be in Washington or somewhere at a specific time, and they can't put them on Space A since they have to get there.

And you're going to protect him how? The only way they would be able to secure the aircraft would be to keep all the other passengers off the plane.
That makes a lot of sense doesn't it.

This has been one hoot of a thread!

If transportation is such a priority, congress should get whatever military hop is available... perhaps the speaker would like a KC-135 Stratotanker or a P3-Orion; each aircraft with it's own industrial sized marital aid. That will work up an appetite. Give her an MRE.

Nuthin' but the best for our elected public servants!

Correct me if I'm wrong, and this my have already been posted, but isn't princess pelosi the first speaker to demand a plane of her own? And if this is true why does she feel she deserves one if none of the Speakers before her didn't.

The Speaker has used military transportation since 9/11. They actually used it before that, but not as often as they did after. She is the first to use it as often as she did, or to abuse it like she has.

Zap, not knowing what types of Aircraft you are talking about, what is your stance? I think you meant, that because of the VIPs and the technological needs she has to fly the ones in this report?

So since the Speaker of the House is third in line to the Presidency, the Speaker of the House needs to be in a secured aircraft which is built to protect them against all danger, right? So whats the problem?

This is par for the course I live in D.C. I have friends who are charter pilots ALL of these government people do this... You guys need to learn that all our government is the same. Just cause one has a R or D beside their name means nothing but to confuse people into believing there is a difference....THE SAME,same,same,same,same,same,same,same,............

i think the president and upper staff should have these planes in order to conduct business both here and abroad.

i also think that they have been abusing that power. when you have an aide being snooty to military over obvious protocol, then that is a big step in the wrong direction.

IF THE PLANES DONT FLY, THEY DONT FLY JERK

I did like obamas response when they asked him about the helicopter, and he said "I've never had a helicopter before"

it was kinda funny at the moment, then you realize what is really happening.

THIS GUY HAS CONTROL OF TRILLIONS WORTH OF AIRCRAFT NOW. why does he need another one.

The people under the president need to get off their high horse and start remembering what their job is; the reason why we pay them, and stop bitching about not getting to go for a spin in the jet whenever they want.

Pelosi has overstepped her bounds and really shown the american people what she thinks of them. Just like the day she HERSELF shut off the lights so people couldnt see what they are doing.

we should do what republicans did (or what my mom would do when my sister was screaming) IGNORE HER AND KEEP DOING WHAT WE DO. let her throw her tantrums.

BUT ITS MYYYY PLANNNEEEE.... WAAAAHHHHHH

The only one who should be using Military tracnsport for leisure use is the President. The security measure around her are no where near as strict as it is around the POTUS. If she needs a G5 for her family members she can charter one.

I'm actually stunned a couple of people are actually defending her and her actions.
