EXCLUSIVE: Bush administration to release tapes that could incriminate Iraq. Hold onto your hat, says one U.S. intelligence official, weve got it.

Jan. 31 The Bush administration is preparing to release supersensitive electronic intercepts obtained by the National Security Agency that officials say prove that Iraq has repeatedly lied to United Nations inspectors, plotted among themselves about how to conceal weapons material and even appeared to boast afterward at their success in doing so, NEWSWEEK has learned.

Here is the rest of the story:

Thanks for the confirmation of Iraqis deception Ocelot; no big surprises here for me though. Saddam & his supporters have never shown much credibility or integrity in anything that theyve done or said regarding the U.N. inspections. Some of the quoted Iraqi comments perfectly confirm the repeated accusations by Mr. Bush and Colin Powell that Iraq has been thumbing their noses at the U.N. and Western World.

This entire ruse that Iraq is co-operating with U.N. weapons inspectors is not difficult to see through. As long as the inspectors arent too close to actually finding a WMD storage facility, the Iraqis pretend to be willing and helpful. Then they immediately proclaim their innocence and accuse the U.S. and Great Britain of fabricating false charges to give them a pretext to invade, occupy and steal Iraqs oil reserves. I believe that were the U.N. inspectors ever get to an actual WMD hiding place, that Iraqi officials would immediately block their progress and hurry them away under some pretence that it was for their own safety.

I have always believed that Saddam Hussein is far too megalomaniacal to ever give up his development of WMD that he could use to threaten, terrorise and use against Israel and the West. Saddam is a typical bully and bullies dont willingly disarm without a fight.

I feel strongly that both the U.S. and Great Britain have detailed information about Saddams WMD programs and stockpiles. I have a suspicion that part of the constant harassment of Iraqi airspace is meant to flush out Iraqi WMD placements by watching Iraqi ground movements via satellite.

The U.S. has demonstrated patience and willingness for meaningful dialogue from the beginning of this conflict. In my opinion, Iraq has shown nothing except lies and deception. I would add that many Iraqis may well be deluded into actually believing Saddams disinformation propaganda machine. A large percentage of Iraqi citizens may honestly believe Saddams innocent of all charges. But those close to Saddam: his generals, scientists and foreign ministers, must know what Saddam is really up to and have an idea about what WMD are hidden.

Saddams time is getting very short and if he doesnt come clean soon hes going to light the fire under his own a$$.

It will be interesting to see what the tapes actually say in regards to evidence of Iraq's weapons program. I guess we'll have to wait and see what this evidence is.

I doubt that the intercepted conversations will give any detailed information of exactly where or what WMD are being hidden. No Iraqi official could possibly be that stupid - or could they? I suspect that they will offer "probable cause" indicators to believe that they've been lying and playing games.

Below is a good link for a complete chronological account of Iraq's systematic web of deceptions.

I'm not so sure, if these are ultra sensitve NSA interceptions, then it sounds like they have broken a major Iraqi code. The probable reason that these transcripts have been kept secret for so long is, that they didn't want to alert the iraqi's to the penetration of their comms. The detail of what they release to the public remains to be seen.

What are you guys crazy!!???

What about the oil theory??

When Iraq threatens to blow up their oil fields, Our govt gets all hitched and starts procastinating...come on ..at least tell the public the truth about why we are going to war with iraq...one is to control the whole world because the "the last drop of oil in the world will be in Iraq." second reason is of course the oil. So basically we are going to kill more millions of people for oil...and domination. What is the world comming to??

I can tell you one thing tho...Because of our govt, our country is going to come to a demise. Everytime come country strives for domination and totalarism, they are brought down...it is not in humanity to be controlled and not to have the right of freedom and choice....especially a country like ours where people believe this right after God. In other regions where theres always been oppression is another story, no, i think once the american people find out whats really going on....bush is dush!

Do you guys read other newspapers besides the ones our govt provides for us?? Do you guys actually think because the govt feels a certain way, the people do too...britain people...anti-war...germany..anti-war, france...anti-war....most of the owrld at this point and on this issue is anti war....so why the hell are we going to war??? Why are the people letting the govts rule>>??? when it is up to us to stop this regime??
