Karzai Welcomes Obama Call to Reach Out to Taliban

KABUL — President Hamid Karzai on Sunday welcomed President Barack Obama's call to identify moderate elements of the Taliban and encourage them to reconcile with the Afghan government.

Obama's call "was good news because this has been the stand of the Afghan government," Karzai told a gymnasium full of Afghan women during a speech to commemorate International Women's Day.

Pure damage control from the Obama administration. The Taliban were an absolutely vicious regime in Afghanistan and in my opinion talking to "moderate" elements of the Taliban is like accepting Albert Speer as he was a moderate Nazi.

This stinks to me of someone wanting a quick fix. He wants as much of the armed forces back in the US as possible, even before the job is done.

Why is that I wonder?

Most people believe that he wants to bring the troops home as they have suffered enough, I feel that he has an ulterior motive.
