How to survive the SitX in Europe?

We all know the economy is falling into the abyss. The US has probably passed the point of no return and now the only option left is to prepare for the worst. First to crash is the North America and UK, but the Europe will follow right after…

There are many posts on ATS advising how to survive the next dark age. Buy guns & ammo, stockpile food, take your truck and go into the woods or mountains. Good ideas! Unfortunately reasonable only in large unpopulated regions...

But what if you live in the middle of Europe?
I admit, the situation here looks more optimistic than in US. Even though the early signs are visible, the economy is still relatively strong. Happy money from EU is coming with wide stream, mass layoffs did not start yet and there are many new investments around. Of course if the US fails the whole western civilization is doomed. It is only a matter of time… maybe we got 6~12 months more to prepare than the Americans.

But what then? I live in Poland, CE. Possession of guns and ammo is strictly prohibited. Everywhere you go, there is some ‘civilization’ already. Almost every place is accessible for vehicles, there is a road even on the highest mountain. The only less populated areas are the national parks, but that’s no more than 5% of the territory.
There is no place to escape… Nowhere to hide… Nothing to protect your life…

What can we do when anarchy begins? Buy an air gun and hunt for pigeons?

EDIT: Spelling, grammar. Sry for bad English

I have been recently wondering about the same thing. I live in Finland so there are plenty of places to go, big country and just about 5 million people.

I have still been able to maintain my job, but there are no guarantees about the future.

If(or when) #"#% hits the fan, i might just sell my car and buy a 4x4 and run to northern lapland.

Just off yourself now, it'll be much easier as a ghost.

Seriously though, I have no idea how it will be for you. I'm adept in Basic and Advanced American Survival Techniques...

While I lived in Europe for 5 years, I actually moved back to America because I felt unsafe with the coming economic storm. (Yeah I saw it that far off, was only a light sprinkle then.)

I suggest looking for European survival websites. They will have better information than ATS ever will for you.

hi my friend, I live in Poland too, in Wroclaw to be precise. so first of all, as you can clearly see there are no signs of the unrest in our country yet. I belive it will come sooner or later but first it will hit hard others, closest countries you can use as a riotmeter would be Ukraine, baltic states or Hungaria. in PL we will have enough time to prepare I belive.

but I already bought a house in mountains. there are really places you can hide still available. I am trying to get the licence for the gun and I have ordered the small wind 2KW power generator.
I have also a 4x4 wehicle and now I will start to stock some fuel to it.

and of course, I will stock a lot of alcohol (not only for medical reasons:roll
.

but trust me, we are going to get some extra time here. no panic.

I agree with you, there is no reason for panic… yet. Maybe even economy of our country will expand this year in contradiction to rest of the civilized world. Though, there are already dark clouds on the horizon and this is the best time to get ready.
Too bad there is no way to do it legally. The European population in general is easy to control. We are easy to track, we don’t have arms to successfully resist chaos. Please remind the ’80 and martial law in Poland. That was over 2 years of total government control and bloody street fights with militia.
I think we should expect something similar in the near future, but this time on global scale.
Stockpiling food is easy, but what with safety? Where to hide when the government wants you to join army? How to protect your family when some savages come to hurt them?

PS. Small wolrd, my Friend. I also live in city of Wroclaw

there is really a lot of space you can hide. I have a house in Kotlina Klodzka. totally end of world and only 120 km from Wroclaw. but the important is to find such a safe place now and go there few times. you should know the people in the neighbourhood when the time will come.

as a staranger coming from chaos you can not be welcome any more. people will get scared. find some small village, go there few times for weekend, get to know with locals, drink some beer with them, choose the local hotel and get friendly with its owners (of course it would be the best to buy some house in the area) and than make regulary visits.

there are more places like this - Bieszczady, Drawsko area - all in the forests and great and warm people you can hide among.

This is an excellent peice of advice from your fellow country-man.

As you have posted this thread, you already have some idea of what you need to do, such as have a location, purchase extra food / clothing /and such supplies [if possible financially].

Me personally, i dont think when TSHTF, it will start in Poland, i think it may start somewhere like Holland / Germany / Italy / or the U.K. [where i am], when you see the signs in "any" of these countries you know its time to "do your own thing" and prepare to move to your location of retreat or stay put in your home all prepared.

As for the laws of Poland im sorry i cannot help you with, but im sure that you should be able to purchase cans of CS gas? and some, if not all of the following items, to be kept close at hand:
Axes / hammers / large padlocks attched to a heavy chain / heavy flashlights [ like mag-lights] / baseball bats / etc all these are readily available anywhere in Europe, if bought early on before it all starts , the purchases would not arouse suspicion.

I think overall the "best" advice yet has been given by your fellow country-man "CZACZA1

I wish you all the best as we in the UK are in the same situation as yourselves in Poland.

thanks a lot.
nice greetings from Poland to our good friends in UK.
best wishes and take care in the hard times coming.

and one more, it is possible to get the licence for gun here too. you need to explain why you need that and you can get it. although it is in fact not common here to have one.
