Welcome to Breathing Earth. This real-time simulation displays the CO2 emissions of every country in the world, as well as their birth and death rates.

Please remember that this real time simulation is just that: a simulation. Although the CO2 emission, birth rate and death rate data used in Breathing Earth comes from reputable sources, data that measures things on such a massive scale can never be 100% accurate. Please note however that the CO2 emission levels shown here are much more likely to be too low than they are to be too high.

Wow, this was really sobering seeing how many people died so quickly. Excellent post - Star and a flag for you.

If you found The Breathing Earth simulation interesting, here's More interesting stats and facts gathered by the Central Intelligence Agency.

What about the statistics for the amount of CO2 absorbed? Without attempting to throw in that data the website is meaningless.

Just memetic manipulation, intended to push the CO2 is bad idea and fool people into paying for breathing.

12.5 million tons of CO2 is absorbed by Canada's Ontario’s Boreal Forest each year alone' besides all the other green zones around the globe, but I doubt that makes a great deal of difference when scientists know that humans emit approximately 8 billion tons per year, study shows the sharp rise's and decline's in CO2 levels over the past few hundred years have been due to heat-influctuation caused by hot-spot in the sun perhaps? and evidence suggests it is not the CO2 that causes it. So why the carbon tax? Possibly to create power plants for renewable energy?

Very cool simulation... Nice dark and warm colors.

If I remember correctly when I was a kid ... In school ... I could be mistaken but ...

Plants take that CO² and use it during photosynthesis to create a variety of beneficial chemicals, one of which is oxygen(?). List is too long.

Am I the only one that learned that? Where is the plant life simulator or are we all just going to suffocate under Al Gore's predictions.

Makes me wonder who's backing all the CO² BS (since greenpeace and other activist types haven't had much impact at all over the decades) Could it be that it's big companies pushing now because there's bigger profits to be made taxing all the CO² producers.

See the US Constitution for really cool guidelines on feds (or anyone else) directly taxing individuals. Lotsa cool guidelines there.

To be exact, the plants don't create the chemicals they just separate the molecules holding the different chemicals. The plants use the Carbon to help retain water and they release the Oxygen back to the environment. And a benefit of Carbon rich plant-life is that it helps in the prevention of droughts.

Nice find, this map needs to be seen but it really gets ya when you see the birth and death rates along with the tons of CO2 emitted just while you are at the site. I was there just a minute or so and 33,000 tons of CO2 when up in the air. Stunning!

As i expected Chinas death/birth rate is ridiculous.

Wow, this thing is very interesting.

You're joking right?
People just love to make love, or in this case babies O.o.
But seriously this has really opened my eyes and given me some new interesting thoughts that I wish to share with my friends and family. Thanks for the post. Starred N Flagged
