First and foremost we will never know the truth of it all anyway.
This inherent flaw is the objective of the matter.
Belief is only a part of the equation.
The missing part is FAITH.
FAITH is what makes the religious equation complete.
The teachings of CHRIST are guidelines, meant to inspire people to do good in the world. Even though I personally do not believe int he church as a whole or in organized religion, this does not preclude me from learning something from it.
The lesson is to be HUMAN. The lesson is to be kind to others. All of the worshiping aspect can go out the window. That is the control. that is where organized religion and the church embeds their own agendas.

JESUS CHRIST from my perspective may have very well existed.

Real or not, the message is the same.

Hello lies! I'm currently in general agreement with the "Romans wrote the New Testament" theories. I'm a former Catholic and now atheist with Christian tendencies. (And so despite my new stance I am still a product of my upbringing.)

There is a book that is out of print but available in PDF form for free on the Internet. The title is: Caesar's Messiah (The Roman Conspiracy To Invent Jesus) and the author is Joseph Atwill. His premise is that the Jewish defector, Flavius Josephus, wrote the New Testament in parallel and interlocked to a historical account of the Roman victory and destruction of the Jewish temple in around 70 AD. This is the same Josephus that is often noted as documenting Jesus outside of the Biblical accounts. And in general believed by many the only historical mention of Jesus outside of biblical accounts and keep in mind his works were written and published decades after the supposed crucifixion. It's worth a look if you can find it. This premise makes “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s” very deceptive. And so with this the Christians living under Roman rule would feel obligated by Jesus to pay their taxes and submit willingly. And so your gold to Caesar and your soul to God. That's a great deal for the Romans don't you think? Also consider the absurdity of the Church founded by Jesus being seated in Rome of all places. Doh!!!

You accuse the OP of not living in the time of Jesus, thus not having access to any knowledge of his existence. Fair enough. I would argue the same thing.

So if you're going to make the claim that he's going to hell (implying that hell exists), I'm assuming you've been there to see it first hand. Pictures please.

I don't think reticledc could've said it any better. It's really irrelevant whether or not Jesus was a real person (outside of Christian beliefs at least). To me, the message is just as strong even if it wasn't the word of God. And if you only follow the teachings because of their source, I think you fall short of the major teaching of not judging your fellow man. Should we only listen to others if they are some sort of authority? No. We should listen to everyone and try to understand where they're coming from. We're all products of our environment, and we are all capable of committing crimes given the right circumstances. That's why we shouldn't judge; but rather empathize. This includes claiming someone is or isn't going to hell.

I agree that the teaching in that book was good as others before him, but was twisted by a greed of group unscrupulous people for power and money. There was no teaching by Jesus as he did not exist. It was a character. The message was taken from other previous religions and incorporate in that book. The message of BEING A HUMAN existed few thousand years before the bible was written. The ten commandments ( first written by a Sumerians) was a best of all, but was twisted too as was inconvenient. Just like the layers are twisting the Constitution. Religions are created to control a uneducated masses. I did believed in Jesus and Bible, but I had my eyes open. That do not stop me of being a human. Even tough I had many chances (and some say that I had a good reason for) I never took a human life. I did not steal and refrain myself from lying. I do admit that in few occasions I committed adultery.
About the Hell - I been there a few times but made it trough.
I am just a man who want to share the info with another who had no chance to uncover. Few book had been written about the authors of the Bible, but the information was suppressed by organized religion. Download that PDF and show this to your priest, reverend, preacher. See if he can deny.

Blah,
Blah blah,
Blah blah blah blah, blah blah
Blah blah blah, BLAH!

Now THAT is a magnificent post - in comparison to yours.

You're just cut pasting rhetoric of the worse kind.

Formless, baseless, and wanna be good for nothing but causing strife.

Beyond my faith, beyond the truth I have in my heart, you know why I will always believe in Christ?

Because spineless faithless individuals can't leave Christianity alone.
They protest too much.
They look to ride on each others coat tails down a one way street named ridiculous.

But!
They remind me, each and every single God Blessed time - if I wasn't right, they wouldn't be in a pissing contest trying to prove me wrong.

Keep trying hun, one day you might get it right...

Jesus (peace be upon him), was a real person, he shed blood & tears just like me and you, for us. First off, I don't understand your thread, is it supposed to convince people that he's not a real person or are you just stating your own opinion about your own belief? I mean, trying to convince people by stating your own opinion and posting some dumb video is not going to convince anyone. If anything you will just insult people by stating such ignorant claim.

I dont believe or contribute to any religion, other than the Religion Of Living

That said, a very very good friend of mine called Adi was born and grew up in Jerusalem until the age of 22 then she moved to Northern Ireland. She was able to tell me many great stories of a man called Jesus who indeed walk the streets of her home town. This has been passed down to her by her parents, her parents parents,........et cetera.

She doesnt believe in any religion, though she swears blind that a man called Jesus once roamed there streets.

Make of that what you will.

You know, I mean no offense, but it is amazing to me that a site where there is so much talk of love, peace, unity of consciousness, et cetera, has so many people who try to disprove the existence of a man who endowed all of those principles.

That's kind of the feeling I get when people say, "Your beliefs are of the devil."

Love?
Jesus said :

"If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. "
Luke 14:26.

Peace? :
Jesus said :

Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword. 10:35 For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, 10:36 and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household."
Matt 10:34.

Unity of consciousness ?
Jesus said :
"The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,
‘though seeing, they may not see;
though hearing, they may not understand.’"
Luke 7:50

Have you ever read the bible ?

Well said, SpeakerofTruth. It is almost as if there is some trend going on to do everything possible to discredit Jesus, or something.

And no, I am definitely not a Christian.

I'm quite convinced that the man we call Jesus never lived. The lack of evidence supporting his existence is too massive.

the NT is not the ¨bible¨. its part of it. if you are going to educate us, at least do it right.

are you seriously going to expect me to believe that people of that time put faith in a forgery that depicted fictional people that would have been still alive while the they were reading the texts?

lets say i wrote about a fictional person and said that he resurrected people and healed people and was this great teacher and that his disciples did similar things and infact he caused this big ruckus, and he did it all in NYC and they did it 30 years ago. im telling you its true.

do you know how easy it would be to shoot me down? all you would have to do is go to NYC and realize that noone knew who you were talking about. friend or enemy. you honestly think that a person wouldnt be able to see through baloney 30 years after it supposedly happened?

christians had a documented presence, why, because something happened that made them believe, even when it meant being thrown to lions in a coliseum.

this theory also does nothing to explain why the church would try to destroy the bible, neither does it explain their failure to do so.

use your head people, just because something happened long ago doesnt mean its ¨unverifiable¨

-------------------------------------
now to the video.

horus, born on dec 25th....

whats funny about this is 2 things, 1- its not claimed that horus was born on the 25th, its actually the 21st. it interesting that they should bend that because its convenient. 2- bible never gives a date for jesus´birth. in fact from the context of his birth, it was more likely in the early fall since the shepards were still out doors. the catholics later put his birth on the 25th to coincide with the celebrating of the sun. )not in the bible=

so not only does the video fail with egyptian history, but they forgot to actually read the passage to see if there was an actual dec 25th birth mentioned in the bible.

horus, born of a virgin

no evidence to support this so, please....

horus, heralded by a star in the east.

no evidence. moving on

horus, adorned by 3 kings

no evidence. even if there was jesus was adorned by wise men (it doesnt say 3, oh but that would mean that the researchers would actually have to READ the bible), possibly astrologers several years after jesus´ birth.

horus never taught, and was never baptized. anup the baptizer doesnt even exist.

horus had 12 disciples -- no it was actually 4.

horus walked on water - no evidence.

horus called ¨lamb of god¨ - show me the story and ill believe it.

horus crucified - actually it was stung by a scorpion. yes, the similarities are uncanny!

horus resurrected - yes but no mention of 3 days

what really kills me about this whole stupid video, is that it cant even get the details of jesus´life straight.

so tell me, as a person who is appreciates truth, am i really expected to take this video seriously?
