During the 2008 elections Palin was picked to "shore up the base" of the GOP. Why? Do they really think they need to do this? The base is called the base for a reason! You didn't need to put a mentally handicapped woman on your ticket to "shore up the base" because she was more conservative then McCain. I'd bet a billion dollars that it wouldn't matter who had been the VP or even the P on the ticket the base would still vote republican. Why? Because they are the base!

You needed the swing voters, the middle of the road people. Those are who they need to pander to. Not the base because the base is the base! Will they learn the lesson in 2012? Or will they add another right winger who can't speak or answer simple questions. Man, I was so humiliated when ever that woman spoke. Asked a very simple question, what newspapers do you read, and ten minutes of rambling you still don't know the answer.

Yeah, that didn't make sense to me either. McCain appealed to the moderates and swing-voters; then they picked Palin and scared the crap out of these people -- these people who, we all knew, would determine the outcome of the election.

They should have let him pick Leiberman.

Maybe not Lieberman but some one middle of the road. When they picked a mentally handicapped right winger it scared every one. We just had 8 years of a mentally handicapped right winger and things went to hell. So why would you put another one in office?
