Hey everyone, i've lurked for awhile, posted a few things, but wanted to start something on my own.

I live in RI, and am looking for anyone else in the area that may remember a location I used to go to with friends when i was a little younger.

We used to call the place Joselyn's farm, it was off scituate ave in RI after the resevoir. It was a dirt road for about 3/4 of a mile and then it opened up into this HUGE area of farmland with these HUGE mansions, about 6 of them. They were all abandonded but it was really cool to explore. Last time i went their, was about 10 years ago, and their were some military trucks and troops at the site, so i quickly left, and since then i hear it's been torn down.

I am looking for anyone who knows what i am talking about, and if they know what the place was, is, or why the military was their.

I have tried to research it to no avail at all....

i guess you could say i was a member, or am a member by seperation? my dad still lives in woonsocket and i visit there occasionaly? remember its the biggest little state in the union! not many people there to begin with. and most of the conspiracies there are about buddy cianci and his limo driver, and why you cant get fries at haven brothers at 3am. or whos buried ubnder the providence place mall. or anything to do with chafee, and link almond. hey, ive got a couple ? maybe you could answer. do you remember craig price? and robert jewett? to young murderers? what ever happened to them? if i remember right they were juveniles and were only held until 21 or something. couldnt really find much about them in any news archives from the pro-jo.

im old enuff, i was just getting released fom the training school for being a bad boy when he was coming in. i was also at the school " moto-ring " in pawtucket that robert jewett ran from to murder the girl. those stories really stuck in my mind even after i left the state about 10 years ago. have you seen any fema trailers at the r.i. or warwick mall? lincoln mall? any fema det centers an the knigston sea-bee base? i remember sneaking around there when i was younger too.i kinda miss it there. had alot of friends, and there are so many cool things to do. think it may almost be time for a visit to dad!

Nope not 146

Think scituate resevoir area
up past resevoir, dirt road would be a few miles up, out of site, gate with bar across it...

northern r.i. from my recollection was mostly french settled, hence ordering breakfast up north is "two eggs side by each, and a pair of toast". and the first businesses were all mills and textiles. if we google anything from french settlements to first textile corporations in rhody, we may find who they belonged too. more than likely they were the business owners properties. that would be my best starting point. you look, and ill let you know what i find, also.

I know it was called by some Joselyn's Farm... But absolutly NOTHING online

on the way up the trail were 2 white houses 1 on each side they say the slaves used to live, along with the so called "hanging tree"

than you walk up and it opens to these BEAUTIFUL mansions, and i mean BIG BIG BIG houses, ALL abandoned

Found Something !!!!!

www.scituatelibrary.org...

and this..

"William H. Joslin, a wealthy farmer and mill owner, built the Richmond Casino, a movie house and dance hall, in the condemned village of Richmond in 1919. According to Spencer, Joslin is reported to have said, "We might as well have a good time until we leave."

Sounds like how big the buildings were

Hey there.
My parents live in Newport. I've lived in Newport, Middleton and W. Warwick. If my wife gets her green card before June, we may be "neighbors" again. RI is one of the places that made the short list of where we want to move to.
