I think those that have jumped on the Santelli band wagon should read this story about how his rant came about. Those of you who worry about the secret elites controlling this country should take note and ask themselves if his ideas deserve your support, is his position on issues in your own best interest. You all do know who the Koch family is don't ya?

A lot of coincidents there...

So...what's this mean to the average Joe like me?

A lot of brainwashing going on from all sides these days...

My own opinion is Government and Corporations are so intertwined today it is sickining...all of Washington either came from Corporations or will enter them when their "service" is done.

The original 13th amendment barred lawyer & nobels from holding office.

I think we need to go back and re-instate the original, fix it with freeing the slaves & keeping state individual constitutional rights, finally get rid of the 14th amendment as it is/was never lawfully ratified and re-evaluate every amendment after the 13th, using it as the bar for everyone after it.

It all just makes me mad as hell!!!

I read it for the articles too.

This is a great find, thank you for sharing that link.

What I find annoying though is that the "average Joe" movement against over-taxing and socializing our dollars should not be a conservative/Republican plank, but an AMERICAN platform issue.

All Americans should be outraged with Washington's decisions, going back to the Bush Administration's initial TARP and other pork legislation.

Both parties were/are at fault.

Playboy reveals more...ah...truth...once again.
Pappies, good to see one of their articles mentioned here. Thanks.

I knew something didn't sound right to me. Didn't square up. Here was a tea party brought on by a pro-business rant against the "little people", when the original Tea Party destroyed business inventory.
This would be typical Republican use of symbolism to mean whatever they want it to mean, cynicism at its finest. Go back to RR and one of his campaign managers confessing to their use of the word "democracy" as merely being an "illusion" to be used to attract votes.

Shame on them (of course, they didn't have any shame the 8 years they held power in Washington) deceptively hitching the wrong buggy to the horse. They're taking advantage of righteous anger directed towards themselves and turning it back on citizens. An evil cartoon superhero could be no less devious deflecting the power to destroy him in order to destroy his enemies.

John Birch Society? Man, that old Cold War vampire sure refuses to die!!

I thought it was great to begin with. Then I noticed the "Young Republicans" logo on the Tea Party page. That's all I needed to know it was not going to get anthing fixed.
They are just preprogramming people for two years from now, which will fix not one of the real problems with our govt.

Yeah yeah yeah... ultra right wing and all that. Anyway, I agree with you that anyone should always investigate ideas before jumping.. but really, there's not much to investigate here. Just because he was put up to it doesn't mean that the message isn't a good one. The fact that it doesn't appear to be spontaneous in no way diminishes the fact that what he's saying is true.

Funny, over at the Ticker-forum, we all got together and mailed out actual tea bags to all our congress critters and President Obama - long before Santelli's rant. We've been calling for a Tea Party since September of last year.

I guess what we did was planned and staged by the powers that be too - or part of some conspiracy.

Amazing where the attacks will come from if someone is open about not agreeing with our new President.

No one noticed when Rick railed against the Bailouts

NewsBusters does a great response to the Playboy allegations

Edit to add: Does Attacking Rick make the message any less true?

Well boys, what this really comes down to is that some people feel for their fellow man and are willing to cut their own status to help others. Not all those in trouble are worthless and calling them all losers is a horrible thing to say. Many people only worry about themselves, what they can get. Some worry about their communities, the people who have less and others don't give a damn about anyone but their own. That is OK, the way it was meant to be, but we all should do a little of both. I don't like this guys rant, it is display of horrible self interest and is not American or is it "Christian" in my book. Some people hurt when they see others suffering and some people will walk right by someone in pain and act like it doesn't exist or make excuses why they should not care. They are losers, or to stupid to be a success, they are in their position because of their own actions.
It is like anything else, the yen and yang, right and left, up and down, some care about the world and all who are in it and some only care about themselves. It is natural that we have both types in society, and hopefully those on the compassion side will win most arguments or at least half of them which is the way it is supposed to be.

The truth of the matter is there is more money to be made by certian parties on Wall Street with a complete economic collapse. For every derivative on the wrong side there is one on the right side. BAC and C collapse and liquidations would make some people billionaires many times over.

What's ironic is that if the bailouts didn't (don't) occur, then all these guys bitching would probably be out of jobs when the complete financial system collapses. The actions taken ensure this will not happen and will allow the middle class to readjust and live for another day.

I truly believe that when the crisis is quelled a bit, at some point there will be major changes to the financial system. All these actions, are just preambles for the change. as you need to get the patient off life support before you can institute a healthy diet. Not sure what the new currency system will be, but I do know we need a change from the way things now happen. I am also not against having a cooperative curency with several other nations or even the whole world. Flucuating exchange rates as well as differing interest rates continually work to create economic inefficiencies. A one world currency would serve to bring some much needed stability to world trade.

Money isn't real anyways. Lets start over with a more sensical approach.
Forgive all debts worldwide. Goverment personal, business, etc. just write them all off. If you are owed money you will get it in new currency, just as old currency is convertible to new. How much you get depends on your wealth. The first ten million you get 100% back. Every ten million after that you lose an additional 1%. This would cap personal wealth at about $500 million. The banks get nothing, but are reorganized and recapitalized after their balance sheets get zeroed out. This would result in a large amount of currency in circulation. This would not be a problem as we would return to a system based more on money instead of credit.

Nice ideas but remember, 80+ percent of people are still working and deals are being made and executed so we can't change so much as to effect contracts and deals of others. I would like to see the stock market be a place to invest in companies but this short selling is bets against companies and is designed to give people an added way to "wager money" and not to build the economy or a company, so who needs it. What is the benefit in letting money be bet against a company? We have a great system, it just needs to be reorganized a bit and then regulated in a way that the thieves can't get away with their robbery.
We also need a world body that will look at these so called "innovative new products" that Wall Street comes up with and make sure they are safe and valued accurately. If we make it a world body since finance is world wide and must conform to international standards and needs, then those who pass judgment on the products will not be connected to the vested interest from which they come.

Newsbusters didn't say a thing beyond ridicule of the Playboy article. They didn't disprove a thing and if you consider that a good argument, well that says something about you. It is your right to buy all this stuff. Most of us were against the banks being bailed out but even that is a simple position to a problem you nor I know enough about or how large it is to really say what the right thing to do was or is. No one knows if the bail out has saved us from worse, it's a guess but it is done and now what? We let one Wall St. bank go down and it reverberated around the world, what would have happened if we let all the Wall St. banks go down? Who knows cause we didn't. I believe there are good people on all sides of the issues that are trying to solve the problems so all we can do is hope that the collective minds of all these people will being a positive picture in the end. Right now it is all name calling, what is a socialist, what is not? What is wasteful spending and what is not? One talking head calls Europe style government socialist, George Will today said there are no Socialist government in Europe and gave a good definition of what socialist government is. Some just look at any kind of social net for the poor as a socialist tool and not a safety net for society. You want a pure capitalist society, look at India, it is more so than the US. Your free to pay a guy 2 bucks a day to stand by your table and bring you water when you want it if he is so poor and destitute that it is the only job available for him. You can keep India if you like, I like the US style better.
Sometime you need to remember there is not one way or the other, that is a simpleton way of looking at things, there are many good choices in between the extremes. To look at them and consider them with careful thought is called "Pragmatism." I'm sick of ideology, no ideology has all the right answers.

Playboy didn't PROVE anything either, their report is all conjecture. It is a theory, nothing more, not a fact
