Mysterious object falls out of the sky, crashes through house

www.khou.com

A six-pound chunk of charred metal blasted through the roof of a house in Southeast Oak Cliff Tuesday evening.

The object crashed through the second floor of the home in the 7800 block of Buford Drive before coming to rest in the kitchen on the ground floor.

Just read this and wondered if anyone knew anything else about it. The article goes on to mention the satellites that collided and a meteor that struck on the 15th, but it also says that there were drill holes in the object. So I guess that leaves out a meteor.

I did a search and found a thread from 2007 that had an object that fell through a roof in New Jersey. Then you have planes crashing through roofs in Buffalo.

Time to add a stronger roof.

I'm sorry, I was looking at your avitar, did you say something? It would be nice to have a picture of the object, but I guess that will or will not come in time. Thanks for the heads up. I will keep an eye on this story. (and your avitar)

Nothing to see here folks, just a weather baloon.

Would be nice to see a picture tho.

Here is a small picture of what was on one link. Not sure it's it though.

There was a similar story here on ATS a week or so ago ,though that object was a "tooth" from a large grinding machine which was working relatively near-by . It also came through the roof of a warehouse if i`m not mistaken and was red hot, though not as deformed looking. It had holes in it also.

I guess that could be an explaination, but the article states that it crashed through at night. I wouldn't think that any place operating large machinery outside would be allowed to after certain hours.

Thats a good point Chucktah, i missed that important fact.

I kinda hope is from the satellite collision , and that there isn`t an aircraft missing some essential 6 pounds of metal.

Hows about part of the recent satellite that crashed,

OR part of the colliding satts?

Well, it appears that the original story has been updated. Instead of saying it happened at night, it now says that it could have happened between 7:30 am till 4 pm. So it very well could be a projectile flung from a piece of nearby equipment.

Maybe it's the economy? I mean that thng is hurtling downward as i type, could very well have torn through someone's roof.

Sounds like more machinery, like the last time.

Satellites are designed to be light, and that object is quite heavy.

Also, an object like that, decaying from orbit would produce sonic booms and probably be seen (if it was after dark).

As for the satellites that crashed, most of that debris is in very high orbits, and won't be coming down for a while (100's-1000's of years).

It's unlikely that any chunks big enough survived the initial collision, that would be large enough to survive reentry and still be relatively sizable like the object in this case.

Sounds like the makings of a second Donnie Darko.

Strange, could be space debris. Earths orbit is littered with the stuff maybe when the satellites collided with whatever it knocked some space junk down to earth.

Ok... now I don't buy the wood chipper story....to much of a coincidence.
I smell cover up story!!!

New Jersey

Mayor: Mysterious Object That Crashed into Jersey City Business Came from Wood Chipper

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) -- The mysterious falling object in Jersey City appears to have come from a wood chipper.

Mayor Jerramiah Healy says the chunk of hot metal came from nearby -- not from an plane as once suspected.

Al Smith was fork-lifting a sofa onto a wooden storage platform around 9:30 a.m. in his moving company's warehouse when he heard a sound he thought was a bomb.

Most likely space junk. There is lots of our crap from space missions floating out there.

I was reading earlier on the satellites that crashed, and they seemed confident that most likely any debris that flowed toward the earth would be burnt up in the atmosphere.

What I was wondering is how big, or dense does something have to be to enter the earths atmosphere and still have some remnants left over afterwards? Or is it mainly on the composition of the object?

I bet insurance doesnt cover sat debris crashing thru your roof.
And I bet you cant sue whoever owned the original sat.

IF it were me, I'd sell the (possibly sensitive) debris to the highest bidder. The first place I'd call would be the Chinese. It came through my roof, it's mine to sell now!

Woops! I started another thread on this after searching 'Dallas' and not finding anything - sorry.

What I find most curious about the strange things going on in our skies, at the moment, is that the planet is very vast with huge amounts of water and empty areas yet here we have 2 pieces of metal falling through buildings - what's the odds on that?

Plus there's lots of eye witness reports of a variety of different things relating to the sky - planes crashing, the rocket crashing, satellites colliding, reports of sonic booms, roars, strange lights in the sky......

Lately, there does seem to be a lot more weird stuff going on in the skies!
