At 9:57 AM 02/25/09 during the Fox News Broadcast with Megyn Kelly she was proud to announce that between FoxNews & other attention: The owner of the McDonalds franchise where a shooting incident occurred leaving a worker seriously injured after a confrontation with a patron, has agreed that no matter the outcome of the Workers Compensation Claim he assures that he will step in and pay the medical expenses (upto $300K) of the shooting victim.

This has not been posted to the web yet into an article form and I don't know how to transfer the video from my DVR to post it yet.
I've provided a link to the FOXNews video's page showing the original report.

I know that many people were discussing this in the ATS forums and even sent letters to McDonalds regarding their appearent disregard for their employee doing 'the right thing' in protecting another patron from an attack.

Looks like the letters may have gotten their attention!

Sorry about limited links but it seems that it is THAT new even though Fox reported it 30 mins ago it's still not even on their website. Not my fault. But I'm sure that those that posted earlier will be very interested in this follow up.

Its because the cameras were on.
If there was no coverage then this would have been different.
They are doing damage control...thats all.
Glad the guy is getting some help tho.

I know I for one sent McDonalds an email saying I was boycotting there food chain and would pass along the story to friends and familly, This is the response that I got:

Thank you for taking the time to contact McDonald's to let us know your thoughts on this unfortunate incident. Because this restaurant is an independently owned McDonald's and a claim is still pending, it is not appropriate for us to comment. i sent an email as well and called corporate,,, and got the same reply you got,,,,,which is a bunch of crap,,,, they have control to quite an extent over franchisee's... corpooraye couls step in and quickly say we'll pick up the tab and do the right thing. they must think we're stupid

But the fact is, that employee should have called the cops.
Not tried to be a hero and get involved in domestic disputes.

Kudos to the owner for helping his employee, who helped their customer in a situation where any real compassionate human being would've stepped in.

You can sit at your computer and say the guy should have ran to the phone, dialed 911, waited for the responder, told them what was happening, told them his location, and then waited for the police to make their way there and break up the fight, all while the girl is getting her face pounded in by someone she obviously couldn't fight off...

Or you could just be a real person and try to stop it as it's happening.

I disagree. I think if more people were willing to step up and step in, there would be less people running around committing violence. Most of them do what they do because they dont expect ordinary people to try and stop them.

The only reason that guy was willing to hit that woman in public is because his history has told him that no one will do anything to stop him. If more people took a stand, the criminals would have to think twice when committing crimes. The wouldnt only have to be on the lookout for cops, but for all of us.
