Tunnel Boring machines

I'm not sure if any of you have ever heard of these, but I'm trying to find out more information about machines that I have read about the gov uses to create tunnels. The machines supposebly use nuclear energy as source of power and melt rock infront of them. When they pass through the rock, it cools, and turns into a solid smooth strong tunnel.

Me personally I don't know what to believe, because the gov has some amazing technology, and at the rate our technology evolves, it's not entirely impossible. On the other hand, the idea seems like a brilliant one and awesome indeed. Anyways, if you have some info, I'd appreciate it.

I think a simple search here on ats would turn up a wealth of informaiton.

This stuff is fairly well known, I think if you went to google (all hail the mighty and evil google) you'd find pages and pages and pages of stuff on tunnel boring machines.

I don't think the government is too worried about civilians learning about tunnel boring technology, they just don't want us to know where the tunnels go.
