The purpose of the April 2-5 drill will be to gather intelligence, then search for and apprehend a suspected weapons dealer, according to Sgt. Mike Kots, readiness NCO for Alpha Company.

So I wanted to bring the story here, hopefully with a bit more reserve.

With that said however, I still don't like stuff like this involving National Guard troops training in civilians areas and involving civilians in the exercises. It does not forebode well.

"It will be important for us to gain the trust and confidence of the residents of Arcadia," said Kots. "We will need to identify individuals that are willing to assist us in training by allowing us to search their homes and vehicles and to participate in role-playing."

"We really want to get as much information out there as possible, because this operation could be pretty intrusive to the people of Arcadia."

Could be? Or will be? And why, again, is this necessary in the middle of a community? And what ever happened to posse comitatus? Is that just a pipe dream anymore?

Why not? Let's the civilians see where their tax dollars are going. And they'll know ahead of time what's going on. They can choose not to participate.

Has nothing to do with posse comitatus; it's just training.

Ever hear of Robin Sage? Check that out and see how the civilians deal with that exercise.

I'm usually one to play down these kind of things with "they've been doing it for years", and, "seems like a good idea" types of responses.

But I find this one strangely troubling, and while it's a somewhat extreme possibility, the thoughts of this being used as a form of preparation for firearms seizure is chilling.

If they tried that in Texas it would be full blown civil war.

Texas will be their worst nightmare. First of all, most Texans consider them Texans first and won't succumb to Fed pressure as quickly as other states.

Do they really expect to turn our guardsmen into anti American brownshirts? It won't happen they way they expect.

Just calm down people.

I think people forget that people in the Military have families to support and they also have a job to do.

When things really go down for real they will not be confiscating any guns. If anything they will make sure you have a gun.

The soldiers just can't up and say we are not doing this. They have a pay check to earn, not to mention this could come in very valuable because if, scratch that, when STHF they will be using this to confiscate the guns from the enemies of the US Constitution.

Such as certain fractions that will use such an opportunity for fascist takeover or communist revolution or something crazy like that.

If you are against America and dislike the US Constitution and want to see it turn into a socialist nanny state or a communist state then you should be worried.

I'm not worried one bit, I'm a freedom loving American down to the core.
