I still pose the question as to how it could submerge intact and not be affected by erosion and tectonic activity in 9000-12000 years. Did you have anything to add to the discussion or are you just on here to criticize others?

But, isn't this process of data tracking removable from the final image? If so, did someone mislead the world into believing the *City of Atlantis* had been found? If so, what was the motive?

Does this problem occur regularly? Has it in the past?

Is there a better, more reliable type of sonar that doesn't use the tracking technology in the picture so we can get a clear view of what's actually on the ocean floor?

I dunno. It looks kinda fake from the Sun pic. It does make me want to look into it more though.

The amazing thing is how close this anomaly is to my own proposed location for Atlantis, based on a purported sighting of the island in the 1800s, it had been my first thread ever on ATS. Ah the Memories. Hopefully we can get some divers out there to take a look. I'm going to check Flash Earth to see if the anomaly appears in more than just one satellite imager...

I thought Atlantis was supposed to have circular features.. Whatever it is, it's interesting though

Are there any other stories anyone has found supporting this one? I have searched and come up dry. I would think if this were more than just sonar tracks, there would be all sorts of stories popping up about it.

OK, explain the cocain.

If you zoom out and look into the Atlantic, you see what looks like it could have been a very large continent or island, if the water were not completely covering it.

It seems like it could me a massive raised area of mountains. If this area were at one time dry, what kind of cataclysmic event could have pushed this area of land under water? Or buried it under water?

You could just say it is just a large mountain range under water, but who knows?

Those square markings do raise some questions.

And you have to wonder why the Atlantic Ocean has such a similar name to Atlantis. It's interesting.

Ive seen history channel documentary abuot Atlantis, and according to plato, Atlantis wa made of 3 rings, land filled with waster, land, water ect, so taht would make it circular, not rectangular.

You need to read Plato account of Atlantis. Only the city was circular. The continent of Atlantis was more rectangular.

Never said I could, if it's even true. Did you personally see and analyze the substance to confirm it was coc aine? I doubt it.
What I don't doubt that the ancient civs could have sailed to the Americas. It may have happened. I don't know. But coffee has got nothing to do with it. Why did you include it?

There are heaps more sites like this, some even bigger. It's geological. There is a big captial A off Argentina (maybe that marks Atlantis!!!)
It is fairly square but there are heaps of geological formations that people once thought were man made.
Lets examine the logic of the site in question.... It's the size of Wales...Thats's bigger than the largest city boundary in the modern world suppossedly built in a time when cities never got bigger than 1/3 of London!
Are we that gullible? Maybe we are! We want to believe it. Heck even I think it would be fantastic but it's geological I'm afraid.

The island that Atlantis is located on, is also call Atlantis. You all should know, that Plato never name the city itself. But only name the island itself. Anyway the city itself is call Poseidon.

Many of you seem to believe that this anomaly is caused by sonar mapping.

One question...

Why is this area so heavily focused on by sonar mappers as to have produced such an anomaly?

Google said this is not Atlantis...

Google said this pattern is constructed by the way boats used their sonar in this area. The boats sailed in up and down, or left and right directions. a computer makes an image of it.

But i can hardly find these weird lines anywhere.

I realy would like to believe.
