The following is a report known formally as the "Annual Threat Assessment of the Intelligence Community for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence".

In short, it is the most concise analysis of the overall intelligence data and security issues facing the United States of America. It lists the dangers of Iran, Al-Qaeda and Pakistan... but in a major shock, Dennis C Blair (Director of National Intelligence) states that the most pressing security concern for the USA is the economic crisis.

The rest of the report is also a fascinating read, and I would thoroughly reccommend it. It's a fairly point-blank, honest assessment of how the US intel community views the world and the threats to the US.

The primary near-term security concern of the United States is the global economic crisis
and its geopolitical implications. The crisis has been ongoing for over a year, and economists are
divided over whether and when we could hit bottom. Some even fear that the recession could
further deepen and reach the level of the Great Depression. Of course, all of us recall the
dramatic political consequences wrought by the economic turmoil of the 1920s and 1930s in
Europe, the instability, and high levels of violent extremism. Though we do not know its
eventual scale, it already looms as the most serious global economic and financial crisis in
decades.

We are in the middle of it. Whats scary is the scope and the multiple ripple impact that it will cause....something that cannot be dimensioned right now. So governments will have to look a scenario plays and worst case scenarios to benchmark and assess whether they are prepared, which is whats scaring the pants off them.

BTW, couldnt trace or download the file. If you have it, could you repost somewhere please? Thanks in advance!

Cheers!
