I couldn't help notice that Democrats are trying to block all that "Draconian Hype" on the radio and now they are going after the internet, out off all the things the government are accused of why would they target this one in particular ?

For Democrats, imposing draconian censorship on broadcast talk radio is only the beginning — now they are sharpening their long knives in order to impose speech restrictions on the internet.

Democrat Rep. Henry Waxman

On February 16, the American Spectator reported on senior FCC staff working for Commissioner Michael Copps holding meetings with advisers to House Energy and Commerce More.. Committee Chairman Henry Waxman to discuss ways the committee can create openings for the FCC to put in place a form of the “Fairness Doctrine” without actually calling it such. For Waxman and crew, however, radio talk is only the beginning.

According to the American Spectator:

Waxman is also interested, say sources, in looking at how the Internet is being used for content and free speech purposes. “It’s all about diversity in media,” says a House Energy staffer, familiar with the meetings. “Does one radio station or one station group control four of the five most powerful outlets in one community? Do four stations in one region carry Rush Limbaugh, and nothing else during the same time slot? Does one heavily trafficked Internet site present one side of an issue and not link to sites that present alternative views? These are some of the questions the chairman is thinking about right now, and we are going to have an FCC that will finally have the people in place to answer them.” (Emphasis added.)

For example, it is not “fair” that popular and highly trafficked news sites such as Infowars present “one side of an issue.” According to Waxman and his advisers, in order to remedy this situation the heavy hand of government will be required to force Infowars and other popular sites to spend time and money researching and linking to “alternative” news articles and websites. In short, the government will impose an additional financial burden in the name of “fairness.”

It is not simply websites the Democrats want to control — they are in the process of setting their control sights on internet radio.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee is also looking at how it can put in place policies that would allow it greater oversight of the Internet. “Internet radio is becoming a big deal, and we’re seeing that some web sites are able to control traffic and information, while other sites that may be of interest or use to citizens get limited traffic because of the way the people search and look for information,” says on committee staffer. “We’re at very early stages on this, but the chairman has made it clear that oversight of the Internet is one of his top priorities.”

As this page indicates, the Alex Jones Show is the most popular internet radio station in the talk genre, out-ranking Fox News Talk and other corporate talk format radio stations on the internet.

According to the Democrats and language contained in the recently passed “stimulus” bill, the internet — and internet radio – are part of the national infrastructure and should be controlled by the government:

“This isn’t just about Limbaugh or a local radio host most of us haven’t heard about,” says Democrat committee member. “The FCC and state and local governments also have oversight over the Internet lines and the cable and telecom companies that operate them. We want to get alternative views on radio and TV, but we also want to makes (sic) sure those alternative views are read, heard and seen online, which is becoming increasingly video and audio driven. Thanks to the stimulus package, we’ve established that broadband networks — the Internet — are critical, national infrastructure. We think that gives us an opening to look at what runs over that critical infrastructure.”

Former Clintonite and president of the Soros funded think tank, the Center for American Progress, John Podesta.

In addition to congressional Democrats, foundations are involved in the “brainstorming” of this censorship effort, including the Soros funded Center for American Progress run by former Clintonite John Podesta and the “liberal” public policy advocacy group MoveOn.org. Podesta’s think tank produced a report in 2007 entitled “The Structural Imbalance of Political Talk Radio” suggesting government control of commercial radio ownership and “local accountability” over radio licensing. MoveOn.org will play an important roll in this effort to control political speech, according to the American Spectator. The Soros funded organization is “speaking to committee staff about policies that would allow them to use their five to six million person database to mobilize complaints against radio, TV or online entities they perceive to be limiting free speech or limiting opinion.”

Henry Waxman and the Democrats are not interested in community standards, they are interested in control and censorship and are not beyond mobilizing a Soros funded horde of “progressives” to enforce their political orthodoxy on “conservatives.”

Finally, it should be noted that the Center for American Progress report suggested that commercial owners who fail to abide by “enforceable public interest obligations” as mandated by the Democrats should pay a fee to support public broadcasting, that is to say government and globalist foundation funded broadcasting.

In other words, the government will force radio stations to finance the competition.

I really do not understand why they would censor the media when they already control it. I would think that they would open it up more so that every body could be listening to the crap that is broadcast on the radio, T.V. and the internet. It is already to the point that if you are not at least half way educated you do not have a clue of what is going on around you. There are people that still believe in the information that they receive through the media. I have just about gotten to the point that I do not believe any thing that I see or hear, especially on television. It's all crap. These media people are part of the problem and they are not to be trusted.

This sounds like more democrat whining about fairness taken to new lows. And more change we don't want! How is this not a HUGE violation of the constitution's guarantee of free speech?!

thanks for posting. S + F

Of course. Internet and alternative radio is helping the people understanding how congress is screwing them.

That and the Pentagon budget for propaganda and paid bloggers...

Disgusting.

Well, indeed, the only way this works is if the mainstream media pages online, such as CNN or MSN, also research and link all the alternative views on such subjects as well, perhaps pointing to Alex Jones, or Inforwars, or other alternative sources.
Because otherwise this would violate the clause.

Its really important to fire anyone that violates individual rights and freedoms, immediately, without a pay check, or even giving them 2 more weeks. Politicians need to be taught by the public that they walk a fine line.

Is any one really surprised by this garbage any more? Websites are generally not democracies, they are typically owned by a single person and what they say is the final say. That being said the only people who should have ANY oversight over the internet are the engineers who ensure it stays healthy and functional, the content is not important because its the responsibility of the surfer to make informed decisions about their sources of information, the places they frequent, and in general how they utilize the internet. As for 'the kids' parents need to quit being lazy and do their job, end of story!

The PTB are afraid of the Internet. It allows information/speculation/research/effort to come to all of us. If left unchecked, they will lose the power they have worked to set up.

ANY efforts to censor the internet should be seen as steps to bring it under the control of the PTB, much like radio, Network TV, a great number of the cable channels now, and so on...

This is merely another "bandaid" issue, minor by itself but agglomerated with the rest terrifying, to justify poking about with content.

First, Obama doesn't support reviving the Fairness Doctrine.

www.foxnews.com...

Secondly, the House energy committee 'vigorously' denies the report.

The committee vigorously denied the report. A spokesperson called the account "fictitious" in a statement to FOX News.

"The American Spectator report is false and was written without any documentation or attribution," the statement said.

FCC spokesman David Fiske also disputed the claims in the piece, saying, "We're not sure that it's an accurate article."

www.foxnews.com...

Steve Rendall, a Fairness Doctrine supporter and senior analyst with Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, said liberals and conservatives both over-state the impact the doctrine would have on media content.

He said most talk shows, even those on the right, already comply with the requirements, which he said tread "very lightly" and do not call for absolute balance on the airwaves.

But he said there is "no justification" for applying the doctrine to the Internet, or any other form of media -- since the doctrine was only meant to apply standards to the privileged holders of limited broadcast licenses. The Internet, by contrast, has infinite outlets for opinion.

Which sounds to me as if they couldn't, even if they wanted to.

Guys, the world ends 2012. Have you forgotten that?
Oh, and in case it doesn't end, freedom of speech, what is that? Go out and tell the world how corrupt the government is, and you will find out how much freedom there really is.

Greetings

Bama is the first Pres to use the internet to it fullest extent. At 1 time, maybe still, he had the most freinds on myspace. This guy realizes how powerful a medium it is , and if there is to be any back-dealin in the future, Bama will censor it, and you'll prob see ATS on that list as well.

I agree with you, the days of ATS might well be counted too. But what is free speech? How many people aren't scared to say their real names on Internet? With such a fear and need of anonymity, does such a thing as Free Speech really exist?

Greetings

if somehow "they" manage to get full control over the Internet, I predict that the citizens will create parallel private networks . Actually IT geeks are already working on a new Internet Protocol that would allow very secure non trace-able log-in to this wire-less peer to peer network
. All you will need will be a little mobile-like device in the range of other similar devices. Then we will have 2 Internets - their internet, and ours . Their Media and ours.

I thought this type of stuff was suppose to happen under Bush.

This is nothing but a ploy to cause massive confusion because if everybody reports the news with the same point-counter point approach, it will be more difficult keeping track of who said what.
So maybe the intent is to weave a giant web of confusion.

I'm glad I came across this thread. I have been having issues with YOUTUBE. I have posted a thread about it, but noone seems interested...
Anyway, I was checking out alleged Reptillian videos, and I found a supposed one of this girl. I noticed literally 95% of the comments (which is rare on youtube) said the same thing. They all derived some fear off of it. So I tried to post something about it, and the comments wouldn't go through. That was just the start of it. I kept trying and they still wouldn't go through. ALMOST all the times I try to post a comment about a reptillian - especially when my comments contain the word "Reptillian", it doesn't go through.
I don't know what's up with that, but reading this thread seriously makes me wonder. Why would they censor stuff about reptillians if they don't exist???

I knew it, Now America you didnt believe me a few months ago when I said

Bush = Obama = McCain = Clintons = Democrat = Republican.

It does not matter who you vote for, The Rothschilds and bankers that own this country decide what puppet to bring in.

Obama is a nice guy but a puppet. People fell for Bush, fell for the fact that bush stole the election, fell for the lies, fell for 9/11, fell for Iraq and now they FELL FOR OBAMA.

People need to stop, think and look around.
It's ZIONISTS that now control every aspect of politics in America. They control both the democrats and Republicans now. They control the media. The reason why the use both sides. It's because they use divide and control method to decept and confuse the masses. CNN and FOX news are opposite news parites, but both work together to divide the country. The Media influence the turnout of the elections more than you will ever realise.

So basically my point is, you all got screwed and fooled into thinking VOTING makes the change. WRONG, voting is givng your power away to the one power.

Republicans and Democrats two sides of the same coin
Bush and Obama = two sides of the same coin

Now Obama is trying to take freedom of speech away.

Seriously you need to seriously re think what the hell is going on in this world right now.

The powers of be, need to accept they cant control the planet.

They are not designed too. Its getting very mental at this stage. They are showing weaknesses already. I can feel the panick coming from the now. They are projecting it in every reaction via the media and internet.

They can't control the net.

If they do people will further retaliate. They thought they could fool people into making organised wars. But people have woken up to this.

As the old saying goes, you can fool sombody some of the time but not all of the time.

Maybe the powers of be need to learn that they need to respect the people of this planet. The way they behave is not acceptable. We are adults and we are all entitled to free speech.

It's absaloutely a shambles and absurd to think they would even sought this idea on board. We are not children and we have every right to use our power as much as they do.

They need to accept defeat, all I see is they keep losing control. My advice is to keep yourself maintaiined and not react. Use your power wisely. Awarness will never let you down.
