The parents of a 5-year-old Australian boy who was eaten by a 14-foot-long crocodile have asked authorities not to euthanize the animal, presumably recognizing that the crocodile was merely protecting its river home from an intruder.
Jeremy Doble was last seen on 8 February playing near his family's home beside a flooded mangrove swamp in northern Queensland.
The remains of a five-year-old Australian boy have been found in the stomach of a crocodile, police say. His parents, owners of a crocodile sight-seeing business do not want the croc harmed or the body removed!
Police now say he was attacked and eaten by a 14ft (4.3m) crocodile who was then trapped in a flooded river.
The announcement came after police examined the crocodile, using non-lethal surgical procedure.
"The family have requested that media respect their privacy at this time," police said in a statement.
Queensland officials say the animal will now be sent to a crocodile farm or zoo.
The victim's parents have reportedly asked authorities not to kill the crocodile.

It's like that in India also. I saw a documentary on TV back when I used to watch TV (I don't anymore) of how the Indian women wash their clothes in this river full of alligators and have to keep an eye out, and one lady said her husband got dragged into the water and eaten by one.

This is genuinely refreshing to read. I get tired of hearing how humans encroach more and more into the natural habitat of wild animals but then get indignant when it blows up in their face.
It's nice to see people - people who have suffered a genuine tragedy as well - actually acknowledge this rather than demand that the 'terror croc rampage' be put to a halt and the 'killer beast' hunted down and killed.

Nature does have a way of exacting her revenge. She's sometimes patient, but often demands immediate gratification.
Can they sterilize ignorant parents Down Under?

It is "refreshing" and "nice" to read that people whose five year old child was eaten alive by a crocodile prefer the crocodile to their own child?
I wonder if you would speak that way if you were the one being eaten alive.
Do you think we should start throwing humans to the crocs like they did in Egypt? Maybe start up the blood sports like they had in Rome, start feeding some of these overpopulated humans to the animals?

BTW, if every single crocodile and alligator on the face of the earth were to disappear this instant, the world would go on just fine.
