A lesbian who fled Iran after her girlfriend was arrested and sentenced to death in Tehran has won her battle to be granted asylum in Britain.

Supporters of Pegah Emambakhsh, 41, who claimed she would be executed if she was deported back to her homeland, welcomed the Government's change of heart last night after their hard-fought, four-year campaign.

Good on Britain for letting her stay! It's so horrible that she had to flee, and it's horrible she almost lost her case, but at least she can stay.

As a lesbian myself, even I can not understand her pain and fear. I do support Muslims in their beliefs, but not in any hatred they have. This is hatred they and Christians share. It is completely unacceptable to sentence someone to death because of who they love.

A government that would condemn those who find love is not a good government. It is a controlling, evil government.

If our government should seek to control love, I'd condemn them too. The homophobic Christians that seek to control love are bad people. The homophobic voters who seek to control love are bad people.

It's a mans world....thanks to organized religion. For all the visitors to this thread that may disagree with my statement just try reading the Old Testaments of Leviticus and Numbers. Many of the ancient Hebrew and Islamic laws were set in place to control women. Sadly an alarming number of modern men would have women subjected to the same laws.
