Tried for murder? Really? NO!

The monkey is not a human first of all. Second of all the monkey literally TORE A HUMAN INTO PIECES! If a human did that to another human the cops would be more than justified in shooting to stop them. A wild animal did it and the cops were still justified.

Yes it WAS a wild animal. I dont care how long it had been with people, it still had its instincts and it proved itself to be wild most recently.

Monkeys should not be kept as pets for this very reason. They are well behaved when they are children or whatever you young monkeys and as they hit get older they become stronger and much more aggresive.

Even Michael jackson, as crazy as he is, had enough sense to get rid of his pet monkey when it started becomming agressive.

Bottom line , this monkey was attacking a woman with the goal of killing her. Anyone in their right mind would have done whatever it took to stop that wild animal from killing her. In this case it took being shot by a gun.

You dont get charged with murder for saving the life of another human being. Lets just hope this poor woman survives now.

should the police officer be tried for murder?

Well, going by your logic, had the officer been able to physically subdue the assailant (highly unlikely) he would have been arrested and possibly put on trial for murder or at least aggravated assault.
The chimpanzee would definitely been supported by many animal rights groups and possibly even been able to afford a high priced team of celebrity lawyers who would have definitely pulled this case into the public domain on a large scale.
The trial would have to be moved to a location that had a reasonable pool of chimpanzees to draw a jury from as the accused deserves to be judged by a jury of his peers. This might have been done in San Diego as the zoo there has a fine primate habitat.
From that point things get messy as any high profile case is apt to do and becomes the worldwide focus for human versus primate in a legal circus that would cost millions and end up in a hung jury or even a possible mis-trial because nobody in their right mind would think along these lines.

Yeah,
This is a great thread.

Maybe the cop should have used his tazer and pissed the chimp off. Then he could have entertained the chimp by being a second victim until animal control arrived.

People should not keep exotic animals as pets.

They do not make good pets.

Adult male chimps can and will kill you.

I know that we all grew up with movies where there were various kinds of primates and they were all lovable. That's just plane silly.

The human who was keeping the chimp was a lot more f'd up than the chimp ever thought of being.

For Sure.

Why do you think Michael Jackson got rid of "Bubbles" his pet Chimp!?!

My brother lives in Stamford. He has two dogs as pets.

You are responsible for your choices and actions, PERIOD!!!

No chimp for a house hold pet, no tragedy! It is as simple as that!

TFront page article of course, talked about the chimp...it was saying, back in 2003, the owner had the chimp in his truck, and a SUV was next to them, at stop light. Guy in the SUV threw someting at the chimp, bubble gum i think.. the chimp got out of the owners truck, to go after the SUV guy, but the light had turned green, so SUV man got away...
Imagine if that chimp got ahold of the SUV guy.. WOW

Well not a job, the owner liked keeping the chimp around the truck shop, as a kind of attraction..he owns a towing buisness.

no the police oficer should NOT be tried for murder. if a human being was going around like a #ing maniac then they would shoot him/her too. if perchance a dog went around rippin people's face's off they would shoot it too. if the thing/person was a harm to the people/persons around it then by law it must be shot and the police officer can not be tired for murder unless it was unnessesary.

Oh ok. What a horrible story. That human who was holding the chimp hostage should be made to pay all of the hospital bills and sleep in the cab of his tow truck to be on 24 hour call, for the rest of his life.

I just heard the 911 tape on CNN. The pet owner was frantic watching it tear her friend apart.

Chimps become dominant around the age (15) this chimp was.
They're designed to live with other chimps ... in the wild.

Yes, he had a job. He was in several commercials for Coke and Old Navy and several other companies including a few local advertisers!

The moral of the story is NEVER feed an agitated monkey Xanax bars.

"Conklin told reporters the chimp was acting so agitated earlier that afternoon that Herold gave him the anti-anxiety drug Xanax in some tea. Conklin also suggested the animal may have attacked Nash because she was wearing her hair differently and perhaps wasn't recognized."

WTF!!!!

First of all, it's a bloody wild animal....these selfish, self-centered, low-life people keeping born-free animals as pets is obscene and disgusting

Then I read the above ----> she's feeding the chimp human medication....anti-anxiety drugs....

what a complete ignorant fool

these animals have lived on this earth for thousands of years just fine...then comes along a moronic human and starts humanising something that can't be humanised, that shouldn't be humanised....starts pumping it full of drugs to alleviate symptoms that no doubt were brought on by years of being used and abused (TV shows, commercials, etc), of being out it's god-given natural environment and most likely having to put up with the owners neurotic, selfish, idiotic, useless and mundane lifestyle and personality

unbelievable...

shoot the owner instead.....what a useless human

I read somewhere that the owner is now insisting that she did not give the chimp Xanax... I went back to the article I thought said that ans t has changed (sky news).

Either way the cop was justified in shooting the animal - how else would you bring that drama to a safe end?

She should at least be charged for this, criminally and financially. I like the "shoot her" idea though. Indeed a useless human!!!!
