www.google.com...

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — President Barack Obama says the nation will weather its current difficulties if Americans remember the spirit of President Abraham Lincoln. He says the challenges are new but not insurmountable.

www.guardian.co.uk...

Barack Obama today paid tribute to his White House hero and role model, President Abraham Lincoln, at a US Capitol ceremony marking the 200th anniversary of the 16th president's birth.

www.examiner.com...

A playful thought: Is Barack Obama the reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln?

voices.washingtonpost.com...

The president has never been terribly subtle about his admiration for and interest in Abraham Lincoln. So, it's no surprise that Obama travels to Springfield, Ill. today to deliver remarks at the 102nd Abraham Lincoln Association Annual Banquet in honor of the Great Emancipator's 200th birthday

latimesblogs.latimes.com...

I am saying i can post 5000 links from every major paper and news outlet in the usa..
All want to beat it in our heads he is better or compares him to Abraham Lincoln.
So be warned nothing good will come from it.
When media spoon feed's you Stupid bs like is obama the reincarnation of lincoln...We have a problem folk's...Wake up before this carried away so far it's unstoppable.

Obama's Letter to Ahmadinejad

So now dear friend, feel free to call me by my Allah given name, Barack Hussein Obama. And while I quite enjoyed the citizens of this great country calling me the Messiah, I am absolutely thrilled that I can bring my middle name out from hiding. (Speaking of coming out of hiding, did you see Qaddafi's brilliant analysis of the Mideast conflict in my favorite publication, the fair and balanced New York Times?)

So people need to wake up.

I don't know, I think the comparison is somewhat accurate in a foreshadowing way. There is strong indication that this country may be facing a civil uprising once again over the actions of a too powerful central government.

If you look at all the states that are proposing and passing resolutions to protect both the state and the people from the federal government. If you look at the people that are annoyed to outraged over the waste of money on the bailouts that have so far only resulted in more people out of work. And consider the people out of work and soon to be out of their homes...

No one in power has the guts to say it, but we are indeed in a depression. The majority of the population has less survival skills than an indoor declawed cat and it would not take much to push them into panic mode.

The irony of the Lincoln comparison is that if Lincoln had not been assassinated the South may not have had the rough penalties of the Reconstruction and that the freed slaves would have rounded up and deported. The likelihood of Obama being President would have been just about zero.

I posted a thread yesterday, as the whole thing is driving me pretty crazy too... Honestly, I think maybe he is hinting at a civil war?

But if that is the case, it is not too hard to see some tension building... even if you are not 'Honest Abe' or Obama...

Obama decided to play the Lincoln thing a while back. He's been trying to build his presidential legacy, even before he got elected. Any comparison of Obama to Lincoln is just falling into the hype that Obama wants.

Obama isn't like Lincoln. But he is like Jimmy Carter.

Obama admires Lincoln. Period. I admire John and Abigail Adams. Have been to their home in Boston. Wish to go again.

Nothing wrong with a little hero worhsip. Everyone has their heros. Obama too.

Like him or not, Lincoln was a fascinating character, with much mystery. And an unusal personality.

Since were here so much about POTUS, we forget how truley remarkable it is to beat out 350 million American to become POTUS. And in that, Obama and Lincoln are similar. There have only been 44 presidents in our history. That is not a lot.

I really don't think Obama fancies himself as Lincoln. I think he just likes the man's style.

That's not Folgers in your cup you're smelling, it's Obama comparing himself to Lincoln.

Read the quotes you posted... "President Barack Obama says...", "Barack Obama today paid tribute...".

You're partially right, we could sit here all day and post 500 links to comparisons made between Obama and Lincoln. What you fail to mention is that Obama himself is the one making most of them.

Obama is NOT Abraham Lincoln, and mark my words, by the end of his first term, he'll have lower approval ratings than Bush, if it even takes that long.

You know, this anti-Obama stuff is just about as annoying as the radical pro-Obama stuff. I suppose this Lincoln business hasn't annoyed me too much because I don't really watch the news and I don't go around reading the news online much either.

It's not a regular activity, which doesn't matter much because those people lie to you every day anyhow.

I may not like they guy much myself, but I don't hate him, and I'm ecstatic that McLame lost out to the guy. I'd hate to see what the country would turn into then.

Who cares if the media compares Obama to Lincoln? Who cares if Obama does it? I don't really see where you provide any kind of reason for it.

There's one thing I have figured out, they do love to "coincidentally" foreshadow events. This could very well be something similar to that. There is a huge amount of civil unrest all over the country and it gets worse every day.

I agree with the OP. Why would we hold a man who has literaly accomplished nothing so far, to the same light and honor as a man who forever changed not only this nation but the world and the way it views each individual race. More to the point comparing moses to lincoln would be a closer comparisan seeing as how moses actually did free slaves where as obama is doing an excellent job of creating them, i.e. the BS stimulas pack. When the only true solution would be to switch us back to a nationalized currency instead of relying on the fed reserve. Just my two cents.

I am pretty sure it took Lincoln more then a month to solve a lot of problems and end the war.
Wow, gotta love the microwave society.

The letter to Achmadinejad (sp.?) is a satire, it says so clearly at the beginning of the article. Why introduce that as if it was real news? Coming on top of your tirade against Obama emulating Abraham Lincoln, it looks like you are just throwing every kind of mud you can find at the wall and seeing what sticks.

A lot of presidents have admired Abraham Lincoln. President Ford did, for example, and had a picture of Lincoln next to his desk in the Oval Office.

Obama is in many ways in a similar situation to Lincoln, in that he's taking office at a dark time in American history, and one where the people are divided against one another.

There's nothing wrong with Obama using Lincoln as an example for us all to follow. It's clear he admires the man and wishes to be like him. Lincoln is a man worth following.

Now if Obama held up Adolf Hitler as a role model it might be a problem.

It's the fact he is not Lincoln....
No other president has had the media..for a month..try to beat it in our pea brain's...he is great as Lincoln and what not.

So why is the media trying to beat it in our head's?

That is the million dollar question....There has to be a reason.

Every major media outlet has a story about obama / lincoln ...
It's is like a infomercial ..that we can not get away from.

Do they want us to go YES obama is better than lincoln...
Or obama is as good

I don't get it.

But here has to be a reason that EVERY major media outlet has ran a story on obama and how he is like Lincoln.

So, he wants us to remember the spirit of a man who was a racist and wanted to ship all black people back to Africa, who didn't think much of the principle of habeus corpus, who didn't really believe in States' Rights, and was pretty much a tyrant.

Got it.

Beyond the pale! I'd like to see your 5,000 links that support what you're saying. You post like five of them and then you say you could post 5,000 more but I don't believe that. Show me more links that don't involve Lincoln's birthday, that don't involve Obama saying these words himself.

Oh, and your final "evidence" in that letter to the leader of Iran? It makes you anti's look VERY bad and VERY stupid (like you just accused us of being) when you want to press your point so hard that you're willing to IGNORE obvious points, like, oh you know, how that letter was SATIRE and not meant to be taken seriously.

But really, thanks for trying to pull the wool over our eyes just like you accuse the media of doing. So I guess lying to us is a means to an end for you? Just like the media. I guess you've got more in common with the media you detest than you think.

Thumbs DOWN for the misrepresentation of information in order to get your SHAKY point across. Thumbs down.
