Am I math challenged - or does this work out to -

13.00 for 40 hour work week =

a raise of 3.25 cents per hour?

What do you think a person should do with (what little) money we do have in the bank now? Take it out and just hold it as cash? Convert to another currency?

I thought we were going to Micky D's?

You buy'in?

Sure, my treat, the sky's the limit from the dollar menu. We may need to start getting used to the idea of just getting something in our stomachs to call off the dogs.

Did you say call "off" the dog?

I have a Korean friend that said once that he thought that it was funny to him that in America we spend billions of dollars to feed an animal that feeds them.

Maybe we will get the last laugh.

no, its not 3.25 extra an hour.
its $13.00 on top of your normal income per week

so if you normally make $500 a week. you will nowbe making $513

if that.

They should just pay off everyone's CC debt - that would really jump start the economy:

- Banks will be fine 'cause they get all the cash back
- People will have tons of extra money (no more fat interest payments)
- People will be able to afford more - hence the economy goes up

Now, if something like that would be done, CCs should be destroyed along with it. Period. Eliminate the credit for good.

Nice utopia, huh?

Yeah, yeah I know, poeple knew what they got into, when they used their CCs as ATM - I know. Still, the above would solve a lot of problems IMHO.

The PTB would never let that happen.

Collectively, people in the US owe about $800 billion in credit card debt

Total U.S. credit card debt today is about one trillion dollars. U.S. households using credit cards have an average of $9,000 in credit card debt.

source

If you estimate that at an extremely conservative 10% APR (which equates to 0.000273972602739726 percent per day) that means the financial industry is earning approximately $200,000,000 per day in interest.

If you think they're going to let go of that cash cow . . . think again. They'll shoot every elected official that votes for any such measure first before they give up their greed-driven ever-accruing gains.

So, while we sit by and watch the greedy bastards get richer, our elected officials sit upon their leathery thrones, babble on for a few months about 'bailing out' and 'saving mainstreet' and all they can muster is about five hundred bucks per household all the while ensuring the financial sector continues to get theirs, so to speak.

I'm so absolutely pissed off at this point, words cannot express . . .

Cry all you want but I will still take my almost 2 bucks a day and be 2 bucks a day richer! There is bigger things in life to cry about for me then this issue.

The bailout stinks but what are we going to do about it?

Oooohhhh!!!! Latie freakin dah, they're giving us back $13 a week OF OUR OWN FLIPPING MONEY!!! Whoopie! The more of this farce I see, the more I dream of the day when the whole lot of them do the honorable thing and R. Bud Dwyer themselves during a mass press conference.

Both of you are wrong. It's a tax *ahem* "break." Meaning if your after tax, take home pay is $500 a week, and you currently are paying, say $$100 a week in federal tax, after this *ahem* "stimulus" your take home should be $513 a week and you'll be paying $87 in federal tax per week.

Haha, that reminds me of a story. My mom and I were visiting someone in the hospital and went to cafeteria to eat. A Korean or maybe Vietnamese girl was eating lunch across from us. They had chicken fried steak in the cafeteria that day which she had purchased; she was picking at it and looked perplexed and said in a heavy accent "this not look like chicken." Aww well you probably had to be there...

That saying "call the dogs off" I don't really know too much about the origin, it is something my grandpa would say after he finished a meal "well, that called the dogs off." If he was really full he'd say "I just busted a damn gut."

Yay an extra 13 dollars a week!!

That will help pay for the 13 cent a gallon increase in gas taxes in California, along with the increased income taxes, and the surcharge in paying the taxes.

Happy days are here, I feel stimulated.........

This is just proof positive they have no idea in hell what they are doing.

Why waste billions for something like this? It's like they are doing this to appease more than anything. The actual effect is pretty much nil. hmm.. that 13 bucks is really going to help someone not lose their house.
