A spokesman said: 'In that particular area of Birmingham there is a large number of Muslims so there is more of a demand for halal products.'

The spokesman confirmed 'a couple' of other locations have been identified where they think halal-only could work.

Masood Khawaja, President of the Halal Food Authority, said: 'It's good news for Muslims, with changing palates, who want a bit of variety in their diet. This is only the beginning and we are delighted that Domino's is participating in this trend.

'For those who aren't happy about it I would say to them that the only change to the menu is pork and all the other meat tastes the same.'

I can understand where the people who are objecting are coming from. It does feel unfair of them to ban all pork from the menu and only offer halal meats. Especially to those who can't eat it because of their own religious reasons, Sikh's for example.

Surely they could have offered it as a choice to those who wanted it instead of taking the choice away from those who don't?

I find it amazing that there really are places out there in the UK where Muslims outnumber non-Muslim. Seriously, I thought it was an over-exaggeration. Not that Muslims are a problem... I just think this was a stupid move on Domino's part, and I hope they will lose many customers over it... because of their refusal to keep true to their ability to offer pizza that EVERYONE can enjoy. I mean, their $7 $7 $7 deal... Having a party? Let everyone pick out their own toppings.

It's just pork. What's the big deal? I didn't know lack of pork totally ruins a pizza. I thought Muslims eating pizza is a good sign. Shows they are assimilating to Western culture without selling out their religious beliefs. Look at Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. Plenty of Muslims and plenty of Halal and non-Halal eateries. Everyone's happy.

I'm sure there are other Domino's that still serve pig meat with their pizza. Nobody's forcing anybody to go to that particular Domino's outlet. Ever heard of beef pepperoni?

Pigs eat their own crap. The fact that people can be ok with eating a creature that eats it's own filth(among all the other nasty things) makes me wanna hurl. I don't even care how good it tastes, that's just nasty.

Tell me what domesticated farm animal isn't nasty, and I'll know for a fact that you've never lived or worked on a farm before. Pigs aren't any nastier than other livestock such as chickens, cows, sheep, goats, etc.

If I had to pick the nastiest animal of the lot, I'd say the chicken hands down! They'll eat anything, crap constantly, and have a tendency towards cannibalism. Chickens by the way are considered Halal despite the fact that they're cannibalistic, and happen to eat insects which aside from locust, aren't Halal. This is a perfect example of straining at a gnat and swallowing a camel in my opinion..

The Muslims pathetic argument is that Pigs are filthy animals.
Because they speak of commercial pigs who live in a pen in a sty and live in there own excrement.
But what about wild pigs?In the Forest?
They clearly do NOT live in there own excrement anymore than cows or sheep.
So the pathetic argument is clearly defunct.
There is certain cuts of pork, that have more protein and less fat than any other meat including chicken and turkey.
I agree that commercial pork is not the cleanest meat.
But to say all pigs are that way is stupidity.

Seriously though, I don't see the big deal. Just don't go to that Domino's. Unless of course, you would like to get on the other side of the train and eat something you aren't used to. Try it out...you may just like it.

I'm going to go Allah's advocate on this one, ahem, I mean Devil's advocate.

I don't like very much pork in my diet, and very rarely eat it. There was a time that I never ate it, that it was forbidden on my own opinion, not b/c of a religion.

Now, whenever I would order a pizza, I'd have to make sure to differentiate to the person on the phone that i wanted BEEF SAUSAGE, not regular sausage. Often times the pizza shows up with pork sausages on it!! It was so damn frustrating, believe me. So then it got to the point where I'd leave off the word sausage entirely and just say "beef", which works better, but isn't perfect.

When it comes to the seriousness of religious practices, there cant afford to be some of the pizzas getting through with pork sausages instead of beef sausages, because people might not even know it! if they arent so inclined to taste the difference like I am, plus it looks a tiny bit different.. if you know what I mean .. lol..

The reason for hahal meat is due to were the relegion was founded, in the middle east were it is hot and food espcialy certian types of meat and shell fish! go off very quickly,

so to protect the people it was wove in to the relegion that you should not eat certian types of meat that go off very quickly


Now days though it shouldnt matter, but is just one of those things...


If the SHTF and things get tough and not much food about im sure they will wolf down a bacon sarnie if there was one going :0

Ha that stinks. I worked at Dominos for a while. We used to get Somalis walk in and demand that we clean all the equipment, baking dishes etc before they would let us cook them a pizza.

When we were busy that was a huge load of effort for one customer and a single $6.90 pizza.

They make up less than 1% of customers so why they weren't just told to take a hike and open their own Halal Pizzas is beyond me. This PC gone mad.

when you say north of the UK, are you referring to Scotland? Because thats what I think of when I think of "north of the UK". When I think "west of the UK" I think of Wales, and Ireland is usually designated as a seperate entity.

Please elaborate? We are very interested in knowing. With so many Asian (Afghani) migrants, no wonder the dope comes flooding in so easily! And with the UK soldiers over there protecting the poppy crops .. lol .. I would not be surprised that there are some operations bringing high grade stuff back into the UK.

1. Its a private business. They can do what they like. They have no obligation to serve everyone.

2. Where's the hue and cry over vegetarian restaurants being discriminatory towards meat eaters?

3. If Domino's doesn't serve what you want, go elsewhere. It WILL hurt their profits, and they may change their decision.

4. Just for the record, the maximum concentration of Muslims in the UK is Bradford at 25% of the local population.

Bottom line:

Its pointless bloody reactionism like this that drowns out the true and valid criticisms of Islam (such as Wilder's film Fitna).

I say boycott them rather simplistic but there's plenty of other places anyway If they can stay in business good for them if not they'll change the toppings.

Sorry for the short post that's basically my only thoughts on the matter never been a huge pizza fan.

yeah i used to work at a call center for a pizza place..i admit it'd be rather annoying if customers asked if there was pork in our cheese, but..this is going a bit too far.

pep and cheese is a staple for any pizza business.

A few KFCs tried that a few years ago here in Australia. Needless to say they quietly put bacon back on the menu when those stores started to lose profits...

Why is this a big deal? What the hell is wrong with a halal dominos? People have plenty of non halal places to eat, kfc's, mcdonalds, dominos, pizza hut etc etc.

This dominos obviously has many muslim customers, and they know they can make more profit if they make the menu halal. So what's it got to do with you?

Don't like it? then go eat elsewhere....? Damn some people act too spoiled these days. I want this, I want it this way, it's not fair. That's life. It's just a dominos pizza.....

If you happen to live in the immediate area and want a pizza with meat, call the one 2 miles away. It'll take them that much longer to get there, and if it's not there in 30 minutes, you've got a free pizza.

Everybody wins.
