'I knew it was coming. The second the state decided to murder those children they invoked the wrath of God. [Several bible verses quoted here].
That's what it is. God punishing the state for legalized abortion'.
I was told this today on the phone by my Aunt. I had rang her to see how her son, my closest cousin, was doing in his search for work.
She, and her family, are fanatical Seventh Day Adventists and seem to find a way to relate any tragedy back to God smiting heathens.
My response was:
'Well, in that case then, go and stand in the fire. Please, c'mon. [Several vulgar names used here]. See if the fire spares you for being in
God's favour... Put your life where your mouth is'.
I then abruptly slammed the phone down.
I very much doubt I'll be speaking to that aunt again any time soon.
Please people, help me understand this mindset.
How, in any what, shape or form, can killing entire rural townships be a god's way of punishing a government decision?
How, when the god is meant to be loving and understanding, can they say he would be willing to kill nearly 200 people to get a message across?
What's the deal? It sounds very old testament to me. Reminds me of something those nutters at the Westborough Baptist Church would rant to a TV
camera.
