I don't know. What hacker would bother adding the tag

!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"

to his source? It is not standard added on Geocities.

What reasonably large site has such a security that it allows someone to redirect a domain? But then again, it contains no information to further the contest at all. I guess it's real, otherwise why bother making a GeoCities site?

thats not added, it's already there when you create a new HTML document, at least in office suite 3.0 anyway

I don't know very much about HTML but office suite puts this automaticaly when you create a new HTML document but you can remove it if you want: !DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN"

I don't think this is part of the game, but I could very well be wrong. I just can't picture SkepticOverlord posting such profanity.

Indeed, last time ATS was plagued by such lameness by skiddies, he seemd very irate with them, so that would make it rather odd for him to then post using their style of writing and general lack of intelligence

The date is bogus. 1969 means he registered but never posted.

His last active date has changed. It's now 1-1-1970.

Looking into the how of the hack, but have created an alternate rings information page until the domain redirect hack is corrected. Our box was not compromised in any way, this appears to be somehow external.

I think the hacking was part of the game.

If it's part of the game, why registering an account with geocity? I just can't see why they'd do that, and I can't imagine them doing all this only to fool us.

It must already cost enough for all the webspace and bandwidth they have for ATS, I don't think they'd need a geocity account, they could simply use URL-cloacking.

I suspect that the nameserver has been hacked. This probubly could not be done at the registrar unless a real weak password was used. Checked whois, no changes. But then again only effects one site.

Or probubly the nameserver IP's have been spoofed.
But it isnt site side or name side, somewhere in between it seems. Possibly taking advantage of a slow name resolving from nameserver to nameserver?

Unless it is rings related, but I seriously doubt it.

Man-in-the-middle hacks are kinda hard to prevent, huh?

I hope there's still a way to find who did this.

I still don't think it's rings related. I can't see SO doing something like this. He'd come up with something way better than this...

I thought this pretty much cleared up that it wasn't "ring related" (besides the fact that the hacker seemed really angry about this whole ring-thing lol...)

Obviously, the hacker had to be intersted in paranormal/conspiricy stuff to come across this page anyway.......... so why dosen't he hack some government site or whatever and then post it here!!
He/She would get TONS of points and everyone would love his/her posts.........
Hahahaha thats what I would do!

It looks to be normal now. What a funny little joke. My sympathies to the mods and admin, but you've got to admit, that's pretty funny.

Childish, true, but funny nonetheless.

Its apart of the game probably because you've got to be pretty sad to spend time messing about with paraniod minds

Geocities websites are supposed to be really easy to hack, I've never done it but apparently Geocities websites are what everbody learns on, because the people who make them generally don't get authorities involved because it took them about an hour to make the whole thing.
I'm positive it's some pimpley 15 year old nerd who gets his butt kicked every day who doesint know anything about hacking. If mods are serious about catching him it probably wouldent be that hard.
