IDF didn't violate laws of war

www.ynetnews.com

WASHINGTON – Israel did not violate the laws of war during its recent Gaza operation, a new US study says, while praising the IDF's "impressive improvements" since the war against Hizbullah in 2006.

Israel "deliberately used decisive force to enhance regional deterrence and demonstrate that it had restored its military edge," wrote Anthony H. Cordesman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. "These, however, are legitimate military objectives in spite of their very real humanitarian costs.

The study notes that "political efforts to manipulate the laws of war and humanitarian considerations have become a key weapon in asymmetric warfare, and are often used as a basis for propaganda and gaining political leverage in this type of conflict."

"Real suffering is translated into exaggerated charges and numbers that cannot be validated by reliable data or methodology," the study says. "In practice, even if Israel had agreed to all of the conventions involved, they are severely limited and often difficult or impossible to apply to the realities of war — even one fought with restraint and a focus on military targets."

I was watching the live feeds into Gaza, and from what I had seen, the IDF did commit some serious war crimes. Even though an American study suggests otherwise. I would expect no less from a study completed by either US or Isreal, since they are in bed together anyway. Lying for your friends does not prove anything

You were watching it on TV which means you could not really tell whats going on...
this article does confirm that any civilian deaths were unintentional

I'm not surprised to see the US throwing some "scientific study support" to the Isralis after they have been accused of war crimes. That's like George's retroactive immunity bill.

Come on, we all know that Israel is the US' 51st state, they're not gonna let any court put IDF soldiers or Israelis of the pyramid scheme in general on trial for anything.

Just another operation Paper Clip as far as i'm concerned.

do you really think that with all the israeli air force fire power if they did intend to kill civilians it would be only 1300?

I'm sorry but this article doesn't confirm such thing. This is merely a journalist quoting portions of what's in a report. Have you read the actual report?

Anyway I doubt the report has looked into every civilian death in the recent conflict, investigated it and then reach the conclusion that every single death was unintentional. Until that is done there is no way of confirming that any deaths were unintentional or not. There has to be investigations.

Just writing or claiming they were unintentional doesn't make them so.

Swallow the propaganda.

Taste good? If it does, you are too far gone. Propaganda is meant to leave a sour taste.

Neither Israel or Hamas was in the right, and neither is exempt from criticism.

Both killed innocent women and children, and both should be held accountable.

Don't let your Jewish controlled media in the US brainwash you into even more anti-arabic racism.

1300 is all they could get away with. Think about it. 13 dead Israelis, 13300 dead palestinians...1 for 100 sound fair to you?

And since when is 1300 not enough people to come to the conclusion that they made mistakes during this millitary incursion? I don't know about you, but 1 death is too many when it comes to a conflict between nations that could have been resolved diplomatically, but wasn't because they're playing the grand "Whose Is Bigger" game.

It doesn't matter if it's Israeli, Palestinian, British or American's who attacked or who got attacked. The fact is that 1300 people lost they're lives for NOTHING.

I was watching seven different live feeds that were placed on the media buildings. So IMO that was not watching it on tv, it was more like watching a lifecasting session that was all about dropping WP bombs in heavy populated civilian areas.

I never said that, and you ignored the point of the post. My point is that it DOESN"T MATTER whose involed, they're both guilty, and they're both trying to play it off like there's nothing wrong and that individuals didn't do anything wrong.

Well here's a history lesson...no war has EVER gone right. There have always been claims of mistreatment and un-lawful events happening throughout. This one is no different.

It's the fact that the IDF won't own up to anything it did (other than the doctor today, big surprise he's an Israeli) or even show any remorce for it's actions in the Gaza reason. Same goes for Hamas.

Nearly as obvious propaganda as FOX.

Welcome to damage control 2009. Israel lost a lot of support after the recent genocidal attack on Gaza and now they are willing to invest in whitewashing their attack.

Maybe they can learn from Obama and take responsibility for their actions.

Perhaps you would like to explain this picture? I see what looks like it could be an apartment complex, schoolyard, hotel or some other living community. I see two men and someone else in the picture running and multiple flares or burning debris bits dropping on the structures.

Are those flares aka starbursts? Is it burning debris? Or are they something else?
Do we know where they came from - because we can't see who launched them?

War crimes were not committed. Anyone who makes such a stupid, uninformed claim clearly is blinded by a personal agenda, and has zero credibility.

No war crimes were committed.

A lot of Arabs and Muslims are pissed, but don't pull the dog's tail, and he won't bite!

How stupid!

Yeah, you keep telling yourself that. You can also keep on pretending that the Israeli counterstrike was completely unfounded and Israel should have just kept letting Hamas continue to fire off rockets into their territory.

While you're talking genocide, let's also neglect the fact that Hamas chose to spend much of it's money not on infrastructure, food, education and it's own civilians but on weapons of war so they could continue trying to live out their bloodthirsty plan to wipe Israel off the map.

Lost a lot of support my @$$!
