"Former Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there is a “high probability” that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administration’s policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed. "

It appears that cheney, and I expect bush and others from this group, will not go away and continue to stoke fear among us.

Isn't it odd that Cheney fears Obama's policies will make it more likely that a nuclear or biological attack will succeed when it was his administration that pushed for the Dubai ports deal which would have placed the security of our ports into the hands of a middle eastern country.

Personally I think that if an attack does occur, it will have less to do with Obama's policies and more to do with how the Bush administration stoked the fires of Muslim hatred for the US with its actions over the last eight years.

Lets all pray that an attack like this does not occur for once it does, it will matter very little who's fault it is, WWIII will begin.

It has been repeatedly proven beyond any doubt that the Bush policies were one were a primary factor which led to 9/11 - Cheney is in NO position to be casting this type of accusation around.

Advisors repeatedly warned Cheney, Bush (to which Bush replied "ok you've covered your arse") and Condii rice who LIED in front of a congressional inquiry into the issue, all were ignored or worse dismissed over their attempts to aise awareness of the impending attacks by Al Aqaeda and specifically with aeroplanes.

What a friggen nerve.

Just a couple of chickenhawks who were afraid to fight for their own country but were willing to send others out to die. I'm neither a liberal or a conservative but I think that without a doubt the Bush/Cheney administration will always be remembered as a particular embarassing and low point in American history. I'm interested in how the past will be spun for future generations.

Funny. So the 9-11 terrorists entered the country, learned how to fly a plane (not take-off or land by the way), and plan their attack only after President Bush took office 9 months prior? Can you please post your sources backing up this claim of yours? Thanks.

The countdown to the next major attack is on.

You can't cut the Pentagon budget, close down Club Gitmo, elect a very weak President and not expect to get hit.

This is so obvious, even Joe Biden predicted it.

I think an attack is inevitable regardless of who is in office and what policies are in place. I believe it's the (human) nature of things. Just my humble opinion.

Bush and Cheney created the threat to America in the last 8 years.

They are the ones responsible for every attack on America and it's allies. If they hadn't been corrupt criminals the chances of another attack would be less.

IMO, any future attack won't come from outside, it'll come from another government agency making reasons to force foreign policy and attack specific nations.

The question is, who will they make the enemy out to be this time? Iran, China, Russia? Or groups within the US who have been critical of government?

I'm wondering if they'll blame the militias.

They'll want them disarmed, and making them out to be a terrorist network will help in this.

Just thinking a little bit with my "inner conspiracy self" here.

In 2009 Cheney makes statements regarding an imminent "terrorist attack" due to weak policy inside of the current administration.

This attack comes through (either allowed by our security from the NSA/CIA etc..) or is fabricated and succeeds.

Cheny for President in 2012. "Back in 2009 I warned of an imminent attack due to currernt government policies and they failed to listen to me. Look at what happened while I was VP, we were safe. I can keep you safe if I'm back in office..".

Gimme a break, it's a political ploy. And the more I think of it the more my above scenario starts to actually become plausible.

I agree. I think Cheney's statement about a "high probability" is really redundant. The last 8 years have helped to create this so called probability. Self fulfilling prophecy in my opinion.

Bush was only in 8 months when that happened. It was the result of 8 years of Clinton dumbing down and raping the intelligence community that left the door open for 9/11. Not 'Bush policies'. The threat was always there.

Uh ... no. America, our allies, and our interests were repeatedly hit prior to Bush43 taking office. USS Cole. The Marine Baracks. The Embassy bombings. The first World Trade Center attack. The plan by radical Islamics to dump 12 airliners in the Pacific Ocean. etc etc etc

VERY GOOD POINT. Considering that Bush43 and his administration were supposed to be tough on security - they weren't. The Dubai Ports deal and our wide open borders prove that.

My question - WHY is Cheney speaking up? He is out of office. He has nothing to do with anything anymore - supposedly. Is he just yammering because he can't get used to retirement or does he still have some kind of power base in DC and this is part of some shadowy tactic?

As was previously said - Even Joe Biden can see the writing on the wall with an upcoming attack. It's pretty damn obvious.

Maybe the real purpose behind the Minot/Barksdale incident was to ensure a better legacy for GWB. No bombs on his watch - but instead on the next sucker's watch - makes it seem like he was right all along.

OMG!! Do you think that the previous administration moved a few of our own nukes to use for bildeberger purposes during the Obama administration? WOW ... that just opened a whole lotta' possibilities, especially when you throw in both Joe Biden AND Cheney warning of attacks absolutely happening very soon.

OOOOOOOOOOHHHH!! That's a very good conspiracy.

(I gotta' get the heck out of the megalopolis ... It's got a big red 'X' marks the spot on it)

My favorite quote from Cheney on this is:

“The United States needs to be not so much loved as it needs to be respected. Sometimes, that requires us to take actions that generate controversy. I’m not at all sure that that’s what the Obama adminstration believes.”

It is a keen insight to just how delusional / or full of cow crap the man is.

Loved or respected, huh Dick? Well sadly we are now neither thanks to your wonderful neo-con ideology and political machinations.

The idea that 'controversial' actions will lead to us being respected is pure BS. Our renditions, gitmo-prison, abu gahrab, and the like have all made us look like barbaric nut cases, controversial they may have been, winning us respect they did not.

My personal opinion is that
Che4ney, Rumsfeld, and Pearl were some of the last ranks of the true neo-con army and this is a last desperate gasp, or shall we call it a death rattle from a failed and dying ideology

Flyers have you forgotten Bush was repeatedly warned and ignored it?

Bush briefed on hijacking threat before September 11 (CNN 2002)

The White House had (at least ) 28 Advanced Intelligence Warnings Prior to 9/11

Hmm, so the dumbed down Clinton administration was able to detect the threat and the form it owuld come in yet they are the ones responsible?

Please, the length some go to to avoid having to accept uncomfortable truths is just ridiculous.

Bush was warned repeatedly and ignored it, lied about it, and then used the aftermath to further his political/economic agenda. Don't try to pass of Bush's legacy of failure on Clinton.

How many times have we heard that exact tag line from the previous administration during their reign? The fear factor
I wish he would just shut his cake hole and go away already....he reminds me of Gold finger from the old Bond films.

Yeah. Why is the first thing that came to mind here that he is probably the one who set this in motion. These egrophrenics will go to any lengths to validate and vindicate themselves and prove themselves "right" in history.

I say we better listen to him and listen hard. What does he really know? I for one hope they're debriefing the hell out of him...waterboarding might be an option to get at the truth here. (And please keep in mind the missing nuke(s) from the plane that flew over the U.S.)

No. Seriously, people. Call the police, the FBI, your representatives and DEMAND to know what the truth is here. Why is he saying this? What does he KNOW?

He mispoke. He ment - loved or FEARED
- IMHO that's what he really was saying.

I know that was claimed.
But I don't think the evidence is there to support it. *(yet)

Don't try to pass of Bush's legacy of failure on Clinton.

Frankly they both were a mess. Clinton put $$$ in the pockets of Americans so they loved him, but he dumbed down our intelligence community and he raped the military. Bush talked the 'you are safe with me in office' talk .. but then he left the borders wide open and he tried to do things like get The Dubai Ports deal through ....

As far as I'm concerned - they are both failures. The only difference is that Clinton made you feel good about it because you had $$$ in your pocket.

ON TOPIC - I have no idea why Cheney is even saying this. He is supposedly no longer a player. But the fact that Cheney and Biden both are saying there will be new attacks - and KosmicJack brought up the Minot thing - makes me wonder if a 'hit' is coming soon. And by 'hit', I mean something staged.

No evidence???

It marks the first time the White House has acknowledged there was a warning of a potential hijacking linked to bin Laden prior to the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.

Wooooah, what? Let me get this straight, Bush is to blame for everything and the previous 8 years of Clinton had nothing to do with it? I'm afraid you need to brush up on your history. It was Clinton's policy of fighting a war with legal actions was part of the failure. The second failure was Clinton removing troops from Somalia, which led to the "Paper Tiger" declaration from Osama. It was Clinton who failed to do anything about Osama's build up. How you can blame all that on Bush is a mystery to me.
