If any of my real-life acquaintances (with the exception of my husband) were to come to ATS and see the relationships I have here, they'd be jaw-on-the-floor astonished.

If I were to try to send a little valentine note to every person on ATS who deserves one from me, I'd need a truckload and V-day would be here before I was done signing them all.

Thank you, to every one of you who has accepted me, respected me, helped me, been kind to me, laughed and joked with me, listened to me, discussed things with me, or even argued with me. I came here for the content, I stay because of the community.

Happy Valentine's Day, ATS, and especially to all of my fellow fighters - my friends - in the FCP and debate forum.

There are a few people who are even especially special though. Shock, Semper, Skyfloating, Maria, SchroDog, Badge01, Static Sky, and TheRedneck - y'all would each have a WATS award from me if I could give such a thing.

To all friends, past present , and yet to come...

Do you people have any idea how hard it is to type when your eyes are watering and your throat threatens to clench shut? Let me explain why.

For years Valentines day was something that I despised. I was alone (Romantically) in life. In 2003 that changed with my meeting a lady named Lynne. We fell in love (both her and my first). I had even proposed marriage and she had accepted. Valentines day was something to be celebrated. I even sent her a card that was around 2 foot square or so. Huge card. Things were good.

In late 2005 she was taken from me. Kidney failure with complications. I shortly entered a program for Homeless veterans. I had lost my fiance, my apartment and my job. I spent the first year (2006) under lots of antidepressants and counseling. I can't begin to describe the pain that would go through me anytime I entered the chow hall and saw valentines day hearts. Needless to say I survived. Each year became less painful but I was still under counseling and I was removed from the antidepressants after the first year.

This year, I'm out in society and Valentines day is approaching. it hurts but not as bad. Some of you have sent Valentines day pics into my profile and there is this thread where I am mentioned. I was debating what to do this year. Try to treat it as just another day? Or examine my feelings and try to deal with things.

I've come to a decision. I'm not going to try to ignore that holiday. I'm not gonna say to myself it's just another day. That would be hiding and I just can't ignore it.

To those who have sent me valentines day pics in my profile. Thank you. To those who count me as a friend. Thank you. It will make me feel less alone on this Valentines day. With your friendship and support I can and will get through this.

I was going to post what my thoughts about Valentines Day are but after reading everyone's posts in here, I don't think it would be fair to you all.

All I will say is that I hope that you all don't just need designated day to tell the people in your life that you love them and how special they are to you.

Do it every day as often as you can. You never know when that chance may not be possible.
