When Warren Buffetts secretary pays taxes at a larger percent than he does, something is wrong. Trickle down economics really works.

The real greed is those who do little to create money and depend on those who do create money. The idea that Buffett doesn't pay huge amonts of taxes is pretty dumb.
Reading comprehension a problem? I didn't say Buffett doesn't pay a huge amount of taxes. I said, he pay taxes at a percent that is less than his secretary does. Again, there is something fundamentally wrong with this.

Yeah there is somthing fundeamentally wrong when someone pays millions in taxes every year and is hated for it, and someone that pays 200 dollars in taxes every year is a peach in everyone's eyes. Give me a break!

Stalin and Castro hated those that made money too, and they made everyone poor. Yeah, eat the rich and make everyone poor! That's the leftwing way!
See, that's where you fail. I respect and admire Buffett, along with Bill Gates. They aren't hording their billions, they actually do good work with their money.

Buffett himself, has said it's wrong that his TAX RATE is lower than that of his secretary.

You are completely wrong if you feel that the ultra rich, are entitled to pay a lesser rate than everyone else. What part of that don't you comprehend. It has nothing to do with the amount of taxes paid, it's about percent of income paid. See the difference? I doubt it.

I believe the right wing has done a fine job of deciding what we do for a living, and sadly, millions are doing nothing at the present time, myself included.

Not true, we voted into office a bunch of socialists two years ago and gave them the whole show in the last election. Corporations have been run out of town by the new congress and they are getting ready to linch the rest of them.

We wanted change and by golly we are getting it. It's amazing how fast them leftwingers work in dismantalilng corporations. It took Stalin a few years longer. I guess they have learned a lot since Stalin.

You completely ignored his point to get in a jab at "the left wing" ? That's pretty pathetic...

WARREN BUFFET pays LESS percentage in taxes than his SECRETARY.
The SECRETARY of WARREN BUFFET pays a LARGER PORTION of their paycheck to the government than WARREN BUFFET himself.

There. Do you comprehend that now?

Quit directing your ignorant hate towards one government party and realize they're all the SAME.

It's likely that the corporations have been run into the ground by their own greed, but that's a different thread.

The right wing, had complete control of the executive branch of the government for 6 years, and you're saying the left wing has ruined everything in two years, with a Republican President? Pretty sure that would be impossible.

For the record, I'm not a left winger, I'm an equal opportunity ripper.

Exactly. You spelled it out precisely, probably better than I did, star for you sir.

The point is that the rich with their shelters and tax breaks pay less than the average joe the plumber percentage wise.

The poor don't pay taxes, the middle class pays between 15 and 35 % the the uper clases pay over 40%

How is it that the rich pay less? btw I'm middle class and pay about about 20 %, more or less. I'm glad as hell there are richer people paying taxes since I'm hoping to have social secrutity some day. It don't look to good now that the socialist have taken over the country. They may have to move retirement age to over a 100 and keep us cattle working untill we die. That's the leftwing way!

Every post you make ends with "the left wing" way and you are making yourself look more and more ignorant the more you post.

You are commenting on a topic you have displayed that you have no useful knowledge or insight on so do the OP/ATS community a favor and quit posting in this thread.

This thread has nothing to do with your political affiliation or your political views...

I'll say it again:

There IS justifiable reasons to be upset that the richest 400 people in America got richer and saw their taxes drop considerably under Bush while the rest of the country is FORCED to deal with lay offs and a failing economy. If you're in the top 400 it doesn't matter in the slightest bit if the dollar tanks, if you lose your job, if the grocery store raises prices on food etc etc...

Realistically, there IS a point when you have all the money you need and it becomes pointless to get any more. If you were on those 400, you could buy a house up front, pay the bills up front (insurance, electric, water, gas, etc etc whatever) in advance say, for the rest of your life... and then if you had just 1 million dollars left to put in a savings account at say 5% interest, you could live the rest of your life with no bills no nothing with a $50,000 income for doing nothing other than being rich. That does not seem so bad when you realize the majority of the world would KILL for a $50,000 a year income just to pay bills/live off of!

I am not angry at the guy who busts his balls to make his money. I am not upset at the guy who worked hard all his life and finally caught his break. These people are not the "money movers" and the inheritance receivers who make up the top 400 though. There IS a distinction... but some of you are so caught up in hating anything liberal you would rather make this an argument about right vs. left than discuss the increasing socio-economical gap in the country.

Schools and hospitals and roads and all that other waste the govermnet comes up with for our tax dollars requires lots of taxes. The blue collers which I'm one, can't handle the cost of operating this crazy country, we need the rich folk and their money.

Yeah I know, some people only want to eat the rich.

At least you are able to comprehend the benefits and necessity to tax the rich at a higher rate since that is where the capital is. Good for you.

Why don't you read the article? It's spelled out in plain English. The very fact that comprehension is a problem for you, is the issue here. You are attacking me for something an article says. How about you refute what the article says. Have a great time arguing with the author of the article.

I'm not going to argue right versus left here, both parties are one and the same. In it for themselves, they don't give two shats about you or me. Never have, never will.

I did add the Buffett part, it's not in the article, but Buffett has himself said, HIS secretary pays a LARGER percent of her check in taxes. How you find this ok is beyond pathetic. That's the problem with this country, people like you that will give a tax break to the rich, all the while giving nothing to a people that keep the economy running.

Do you really believe that the rich are responsible for a smooth economy? No, it's middle America that buy's big screen televisions. Give the rich more money and all they think about is making more. Middle America want to spend money. That middle America is shrinking daily should frighten the hell out of you.

My family's business pays on average before deductions 33% for tax including SS, medical etc.

I paid 37% last year and get no deductions unless I donate a min. of 500 to charity or higher.

I made 22K gross income the family business made over 250K gross I know they made more than that however they only divulge that info to the folks in the family who are running the business.

Why am I not in the family business then? I told them 7 years ago when I was in it I was getting out because they were going to go broke in the next decade. But that's not my point.

Percentage wise the lower to upper middle class pay the largest percentage in taxes. The more money you make the lower the percentage goes assuming you know what you are doing, or at least if your accountant/tax man does.

The bigger the business the more deductions you get.

Leftwing propaganda and lies to get the young to want to eat the rich

This use to be a free country where people could become rich if they so choose. Why should it be my business what others want out of life as long as they don't break the law to get it.

It botters the heck out of the left when people want to better themsleves.

The left wants everyone to bust their balls and not move up the ladder. The left wants to decide for everyone what they should earn or not earn. The left ends up making everyone poor by destroy incentive to move up the economic ladder. hence, all the compaines large and small going out of business

What I find so amusing about discussions such as this is peoples complete inability to get over the idea of Good and Bad.

This is not a discussion of who is good and who is bad. This is not about good and evil.

This is about the stratification of wealth and the various stratification's impacts on the nation.

Currently, well I would argue that for the last 28 years wealth has been trickling up wards to the coffers of the wealthy. Again this is not a valuative statement, I make no case for the good or bad inherent in this only the fact that it is happening.

During this time we have seen the lower echelons of society wages freeze, or stagnant.

The idea that all this money accumulating at the top was going to trickle down and enrich the rest of us has proven false.

With the rise of globalization and all the attendant free trade treaties all the opportunities that were suppose to be created here for us so we could share in the wealth went to Mexico, Honduras, India and China.

People say that the rich are investing their money to create opportunities that benefit the nation are wrong. There may be a few but for the most part they are enriching themselves and their corporations, not us.

Does this mean they are bad or evil. No, they are simply doing their job. The job of a person running a corporation is focused on one thing maximizing profits for the share holders.

The issue is not about who is good and who is bad, it is about is the system we are currently operating under functioning for the betterment of us all? The answer to that is fairly obvious.

I am not one who advocates for absolute equality, I believe in capitalism and competition, but only to a degree. Our current model of unchecked capitalism has proven itself to be flawed and must be rethought. What we are seeing today is the fall of global capitalism.

Your only arguing point you have is that the left wing hates rich people... THAT is ignorant... Right wing left wing THEY'RE BOTH WINGS ON THE SAME BIRD. The "right wing" has proven to be just as socialist/more socialist than "left wing." You don't even know what you're hating/supporting. You're just blindly spattering out "LEFT WING BAD.. LEFT WING BAD... LEFT WING WANTS TO EAT RICH PEOPLE... LEFT WING BAD." You're like a worn out record that won't stop skipping.

You're not worth any more of my time, sorry I tried.

And there be the problem. The left has attack relentlessly capitalistic ideals and have sullied the minds of people all over the world, mostly the young.

So as we destroy capitalism we destroy oursleves. Capitalizism is only a small spark in this world, most of this planet is in poverty. There is no capitalism in third world contries, and soon it will disapear in the rest of the world.

Thanks to the left, they are winning and we are losing. yea! Leftwing

If the shoe fits. The leftwing is the root of much of the evil in the world. Yeah I know they think they are helping the working stiff. But in reality they are helping him/her jump off the economic cliff.

Capitalism creates jobs, leftwing creats hate of Capitalism. Sure they want some capitalism. Some capitalism is like some prosperty, you either have prosperty or a shot at it or you have nothing but poverty.
