NAIROBI (AFP) — US President Barack Obama's Kenyan half brother George was arrested on charges of possession of cannabis, police sources said Saturday.

In his memoir, the new US president describes meeting his half brother as "a painful affair". George Obama was one of the few close relatives who did not attend the president's January 20 inauguration ceremony in Washington.

Is this the same guy that lives on less than a dollar a month?

I wish the gov. would get smart about pot and just decriminalize it. At a time when we are hemmoraging money, what better way to raise money, start new businesses and cut down on drinking and driving? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Roger Clinton. Hugh and Tony - Hillary Clinton's Brothers. Billy Carter. Politicians have relatives that they wish would go away or that are shady, just like most Americans.

Do they even make 'Billy Beer' anymore??

I believe that unless Obama starts talking about real (positive) reform involving cannabis, then it will definitely tarnish his reputation.

All this talk of change and there's a chance that he'll just sit back and watch things be the same.
And in the time it takes him to think about it, close to a thousand people will have died solely from CONSUMING alcohol.

I would like to promote my own conspiracy theory on this. Really.
Imagine you are Kenyan policeman and salary sucks and such. Then one day you discover that person X is a brother of president of mighty US - who must be swimming in money, since it is US after all. So a logical solution would be to approach the person in Kenya and try to improve your own financial status by using words like "share, or else, give me, ..." . And since this X keeps saying that he is not connected with brother in US too well , "or else" factor works.
Hey - how it is for a theory?

i can't wait to see how obama responds to this
will he villify this event and his brother

or take another route

and remmeber we have all the sinclair crap,, elluding to a possible drug use by obama himself

i imagine, as we've seen lately,,,obama will take the mainstream excepted answers on this

but interesting,,,,that it will force his hand,,on talking about this subject

why did the brother immediately call cnn????
for what purpose???

was he set up by corrupt police for one reason or another

please be careful,,, so this doesn't become a 404 thread

Obama admitted in his book - his own words - that he 'STRUGGLED' with drug use. Struggled. That's not causal use. That's addiction.

The Book He talks about his coc aine and dope use.

The actual numbers seem to vary, depending on who is reporting and the purpose being used, but estimations somewhere between 200 billion to 43 billion dollars worth of hemp is consumed in the US each year. That means that all that money, whatever the real amount is, is leaving the prime tax flow as undocumented currency exchanges with a hefty portion actually leaving the country. So regardless of anyone’s personal opinion about it, it has a costly negative impact on our economy in its current legal status.

This report, this story about his brother, may be used as a way to test the public opinion concerning hemp. Expect to see more on the topic.

One thing to take into consideration, for those who wish to spout off the negatives of consumer use in the ongoing debate of hemp, a substance is actually better controlled when legal.

I found this at an online news site.
It wasn't a big deal and the U.S. media chooses not to blow this one out of proportion, as the half-brother and the Pres. don't really know each other.

By TOM ODULA
The Associated Press

"George Obama, who is in his 20s and barely knows the president, had one joint of marijuana on him, said Joshua Omokulongolo, the police chief in the area.

"He is not a drug peddler," Omokulongolo told The Associated Press. "But it's illegal, it's a banned substance"
