there is no GOD, we we're created in a galactic petri dish by aliens that are not interested in any benevolent Star Trek'esk intentions of watch us evolve and then helping us once we reach the precipice of our own destruction and a certain level of scientific achievement. Perhaps it is revealed that we are a very closely monitored alien experiment and after a while they just hit the reset button, alter all of our DNA, effectively creating the next generation of humans and study them until they have learned whatever, rinse and repeat.

I'd just like to add that one huge reason for non-disclosure is that if a lot of UFO activity has to do with time travelers from the future or possible alternate realities, it probably wouldn't be good to spread that kind of information around, since it could severely alter or damage the future in ways that would be very, very bad for large chunks of humanity. Nazis developing atomic weapons bad, for instance.
Just an idea. Personally, I think "disclosure" is a myth. The only disclosure most people would accept is whatever fits their preconceived beliefs, and anything else would just be dismissed as lies or half-truths.

Perhaps they can't come right out and give full disclosure about the Aliens because its so terrifying that 90%+ of humanity would lose all hope in life and give up and wait to die, end of faith and all hope. This happens because it is disclosed that there is no GOD, we we're created in a galactic petri dish by aliens that are not interested in any benevolent Star Trek'esk intentions of watch us evolve and then helping us once we reach the precipice of our own destruction and a certain level of scientific achievement.
Even assuming for a moment that aliens had 'created' us, that doesn't mean there is no god, does it? I don't believe in god but I don't think one thing negates the other.
We are currently doing a lot of genetic experimentation and we've been already able to clone animals, I'm sure it would be just a matter of time before we create life in a lab. Would that mean there was no god?
Assuming aliens are highly advanced beings capable of traveling the Universe rapidly, doesn't mean they know more about god than we do.

You've given a valid question there, basically it should be like that: Would it kill them to tell what is going on? If it is to hide their secret aircraft, does allowing the idea of aliens stop people from thinking what they are hiding anyway? it does not, what's so frightening that so much is kept secret, national security ? ... not
OH WAIT, economy is based on the current order, someone has interests in keeping things like that, someone else has interests and even $$$ in keeping religion
So when they depopulate the world this century, it will become clear for the survivors. K.edit on 22-6-2012 by Imtor because: (no reason given)

that we are the aliens. this isn't our planet of origin. that the original occupants advanced technologically, and went out to colonize the solar system in this part of the galaxy. some of the other planets and moons, contain the civilizations of the original occupants of earth. they are not human. they are all bipedal mammalian-reptilians, mammalian-insects and mammalian-amphibians. that the moon is a time prison, that works in tandem with our DNA/RNA and the DNA/RNA of all life on this planet. when we shed the container (our DNA built strait jackets) we escape the time-prison. we aren't supposed to know this because apparently the time-prison is a functional schoolroom. unfortunately, it also appears to be a functional courtroom as well.
