Continental drift - 650 Million Years in 1 Min. and 20 Sec.
www.break.com...

How do those folks who visit the creationist museum and beleive the earth is a few thousands years old get around this one -could it be that continental drift magicaly speeds up then slows down again?

Is there a group of conspiratorial geologists who have misrepresented the continients into looking like they once fitted together?

'A few thousand years old?'
Who believes that?
I saw that continental drift video, pretty good.
During the Great Flood, the volcanic activity could've broken off 'plates' and caused a lot of terrestrial upheaval. Just my thoughts.......

Neal Adams believes that the continents fit together to form a smaller earth and you know what.... he's right! They do! Shock Horror! However he isn't talking about plate tectonics (though it may come into play somewhere) - he has a growing earth theory that sounds pretty solid IMHO.

Check it out!

Neal Adams Growing Earth

Not sure about the conspiratorial geologists you mentioned though.

I read somewhere about evolving planets, which sounded plausible, if everyting on the planets grows up and dies, then why shouldn't the planets, since they;ve decided pluto is no longer a planet, and mercury is morerelated to a comet, then maybe the earth is a the ripest age of life, mercury is the baby stage, and pluto's the old guy of the lot.
earth most likely fit together when we were as close to the sun as venus is, all full of volcanoes.

Perhaps the world is millions of years old. Perhaps God created the world and let it sit for millions of years to form or settle or grow or shrink.

Perhaps this planet was created to look/feel/seem much older than it is.

The age of the planet doesn't consume lots of my time and energy. My belief is that God created it and how He did it isn't as important.

In Genesis we read that Earth was formed in days, but how long are the days? If they are 24 hour periods than God created the world as old (that makes sense).

If they are just different periods of time then perhaps each day could be millions of years (also makes sense).

I think that this planet/rock has been around for a long(er) time, but I also believe that the Bible is accurate and humans have only been around a few thousand.

I'll ask God when I get to Heaven. Until then we just need to live for Him.

...the growing earth theory has more holes in it than the hollow earth theory.

there's no accounting for the earth gaining that much mass and there would be a lot of things to back it up that aren't there if something so radical happened.
sure, the earth does technically grow by a handful of tons (well, it's a handful when related to the total mass of earth) each year, but it's nowhere near enough to account for that radical a growth.

Mr. Adams slept through all his science classes, I'm afraid.

His "concept" doesn't explain why (for instance) most of Texas is built out of limestone, which has Cretaceous era turtles, snails, oysters, fish, mosasaurs, and many other ocean-living animals. Or why there are ammonites in Colorado. Or how trilobites (lived in oceans) show up in the middle of Canada and China. It doesn't explain how mountains came to be and why some are older than others.

...and so forth.

Well actually, he does which shows me that your dismissing it without being versed in his theory. It appears you are the one caught sleeping my friend!

Honestly go check it out!

Again, your generalizations show me that you are not 100% versed in the theory. The growth is accounted for and it's not directly attributable to comets etc.. and we aren't talking about radical growth. That almost sounds like an event. Adams describes a process.. and still leaves room for tectonics and subduction... etc

Before being dismissive, verse yourself properly.

most of those tens of tons are accounted for by space dust not comets and meteors in solid form, about 40 ton a year drifts down through the atmosphere

got any links to this theory? see how many logical fallacies it takes to hold it together,

I have visited the Neal Adams site. Read a couple of the "freebies", and I think some geologist must have pissed on this guy's shoes.

His thoughts are, at times, incoherent, and has offered a concept without much, but visual graphics and ignorant verbage, as proof.
For example, his dicussion of how a geode is formed is so outlandish, that I feel sorry for who ever paid for his education... BIG waste of $.

I will have to read more to fully gain an insight into his "theory", however.

Are you a member? I will read more of the drivel on the free side, however, I am not inclined to join the club ( see geode example, above.)

found the link you left (sorry had over looked it)

got to page 1 of the basics ad began laughing, the earth is like a smooth ball ..... even in its molten state it was never a ball ... maybe he thinks gravity doesnt exist like subduction .... infact when it was fully molten it was les ball like then it is now, the sun may have only been a baby but its gravity was still strong enough to distirt a molten planet more then it can todays hard shell

Endless ocean. You know what? That much ocean and you’d think it would be populated by a multitude of deep ocean life. WELL IT’S NOT.
this is classic

but 1200 ,million to 600 million years old evolution down there doesn’t, bloody, exist. Strike you as odd?
someone needs lessons in the way natural selection works as a conserving force in stable enviroments

Did I say perfectly? No, not perfectly, southern South America and southern Africa would not fit. In fact, there would be a 25% slice/angle missing between the two as the upper area fit neatly. Both oceans would have this same sort of problem.

You know what would solve it?
tidal erossion? sea level changes? the fact once they join and sea levels drop the water evaporates and suddenly once water cant get back in that slice it reappears as if by Pen and Teller?

this reads like a creationist evilution doesnt exist web#e ... i mean site, do they do classes in this form of website.... i have a problem with gravity i think its all a lie put out there by physacists who wont admit inside every atom is a little pink fluffy bunny that wants a hug and thats why atoms attract each other they all want to huggle each other and why lots of pink bunnies (an apple) falls to the earth (even more pink bunnies) next time you drop somthing remeber its nt your fault its the bunnies
