Iv been reading through various new articles regarding Rush Limbaugh and his comments about not wanting Obama to succeed. I must say that for him to hope that america finds herself in much worse times than these past 8years... all for the same of promoting his own values and beliefs is selfish and unpatriotic in my opinion.

Im sure the attitudes of such individuals as Limbaugh and Coulter do not reflect all conservatives just like Pelosi not reflecting all Liberals, but Im curious as to whether some fellow conservative ATS members feel this way too? If Obama succeeds in pushing america forward economically and culturally will this be a danger to conservative values? Are there those among the conservative branch who are hoping for americas downfall under an Obama administration?

I have seen a number of topics around the web, both bitter Republicans and Hill-Regean Democrats, proclaiming civil war and economic doom under this administration. Is it inaccurate to assume there is a need and a hope for the Obama administration to fail?

The problem we have here on ATS is most people are prone to thinking he's just another Puppet for the NWO and therefore there is no other option but things getting worse.

As i've said in other threads, there needs to be a certain level of optimism going forward. I mean if he is a puppet, we'll no, and if he isn't then, well he probably won't be president for long unfortunetlly.

We all know what happens to whistleblowers.

Everybody SHOULD want Obama to succeed, because really, doesn't everybody want to see America be a Moral leader for the world? I mean come on, nobody really WANTS to hate them.

Succeed at what?

If you mean succeed at governing the nation through prosecuting successfully the war on terror, maintaining domestic tranquility, defending the Constitution of the United States, improving the economy, and other tasks that may arise during his term, then the answer is yes, I want him to succeed.

If by succeed you mean something else, then it would depend of your definition.

It depends on what his goals are.

If he wants to bring prosperity, uphold the constitution, and get this nation viewed as the land of freedom it once was, then yes.

If his goal is to advance some kind of socialist new world order, repeal the 2nd amendment, or promote discrimination against people just because they happen to be a certain race, then no.

Who can really be sure what his goals are at this point?

Limbaugh's only stake in the matter is keep controversy stirred. His only hope was that Obama won, so he could continue to spout his dying opinions for at least four years. Otherwise he has to find someone in the background to whine about. Makes more sense for his ratings to keep the opposition in the limelight.
And yes, my signature has been that for a month or so

For anybody actually interested in reading Rush's response, here it is:

corner.nationalreview.com...

I see nothing wrong with what Rush Limbaugh said. Perhaps some of you should read what he said before passing judgement.

I could care less about his response to anything. I heard enough out of him to conclude he is a racist, elite, idiot.
Here if you really want to know what the guy says. Take a good look at who this guy is. It makes me wonder what kind of people are conservatives. I know if I knew more about conservatism and called myself a conservative, I would most certainly tell Limbaugh to stop speaking for me and my beliefs.

I have a dream and that dream is that one day on ATS people will stop using the term" racist" , like some kind of trump card, every time they disagree with someone. My dream is also that whenever someone actually uses a racist epithet that the moderators deal with him/her.

Now regarding this rather leading question... I think all americans want America to prosper and flourish, but somehow these threads have as their sole purpose to prove that non-Obama supporters are either "racist" or "anti-american".

And the quote above tells the reason why some people, like myself, want to see Obama fall flat on his face.

Not because I want America to suffer, because I want to see the look on those people face who spews Obama like he does no wrong. Can't even criticize the guy because wham- your tagged and labeled.

Like I said before, i will give Obama a chance and really wish him the best but there is a part of me who wants to see some of you eat your words.

I agree with you that Limbaugh is using this as a publicity stunt.

I also believe it is a smart move because it will raise his ratings and no doubt his paycheck.

I want my country to succeed. I want my country to climb out of the domestic mess it is in now.

I did not vote for Obama, but do I want him to fail? No.
Do I want his presidency to fail? No.

Do I want some of his ideas and policies to fail? Yes, because I don't agree with them, hence the reason I did not vote for him.

jam, I could care less who you are and what you stand for. But at this point we all better hope our government as a whole succeeds. Do you have children, grand-children, anyone that you care about?
As badly as I cannot stand Limbaugh, if even he were POTUS, I sure as *H%@* would be praying for him and our country.

Rush just got a 8 year 200 million dollar contract about a year ago.....under the Bush Administration.

It doesn't matter who the President is....Rush will succeed regardless.

Anyway.....Do I want Obama to succeed?

Check out my signature.........

Yes, as a semi-Conservative I want very much for Obama to succeed.

Why you ask?
Because unlike the Bush hating disrespectful, pessimistic Libs of the last several years that gripe about everything, I am an optimisitc American first.

I do not like Obama. *Gasp* And im not sure if im considered a "conservative"...I suppose in some ways I am, in other ways I am not.

However, I absolutely DO want him to succeed because he is leading my country. My criticism of him and my opinion of him has nothing to do with my hope for his success as President!

You know what. I just now read this - after my last response.
You have a VERY valid points and I will agree with you 100%.

I guess in my trying to be fare, I overlooked the negative things that Obama could do and may do (as you mentioned above) - and well, I would not want any of that to succeed.

Also, the success of our country does not hinge on Obama. I hate to say it, but it simply doesn't. It doesn't hinge on the President, no matter who it is.

The success of our country, or its failure, hinges on all of us....the President, the Federal government, State governments, local governments, and most importantly, us, the citizens of the USA.

I don't want Obama to fail, nor do I want his presidency to fail. But, instead of focusing on whether or not we want Obama to succeed or fail, we should focus on whether we want OUR COUNTRY to succeed......that success does not hinge on one man but on all of us as a whole.
