Business controls government, or government controls business...

My apologies if this does not fall under the new political rules, though I think it does, if not I will take it down...or the admin will for me

I've seen various members of ATS accuse the media of being government controlled. I've always viewed businesses as controlling government so my view would be similar, yet exactly opposite. Perhaps a more specific questioning is in order.

Why do some members believe that the government controls business? (i.e. media, manufacturing, military industrial, agriculture etc. to start)

Why do some members believe that the business controls government? (i.e. lobbyist, pr firms/think tanks, legal offshore tax shelters etc. to start)

Which do you believe to be more true and why?

Good question. I think one can just follow the money trail and see the succession and hierarchy of power from there. The succession is mainly retained due to succession of wealth and the hierarchy is retained due to instillation of fear.

That is the most concise answer I can give in support of business controls government.
