No, not yobs! That's the fascinating thing about this. Stereotypes are being trashed. Previous 'left-wingers' (myself included) are starting to display somewhat conservative viewpoints. Your middle-class, Labour voting neighbour is now chatting casually with neighbours about their concerns. And no, we're not Nazis and we don't want a dictatorship. Protecting the wellbeing of one's country doesn't have to be exremist, hateful or fascist. Hopefully what will happen is that protest-votes for the BNP will wake up the mainstream parties to the concerns of its people and policies will be changed accordingly. This is an interesting point- I think there may be an element of truth to this, although it isn't the only reason for the govt abandoning our borders.

As a liberal (by nature - not by support of the party) myself I have thought long and hard about this, and I can only come to the conclusion that uncontrolled immigration is going to bancrupt the country (if brown doesn't do it first)

You are right that stereotypes are being trashed - but that's what was bound to happen as Blair/Brown overturned traditional labour values.
Publicly they have quite a right-centre stance whilst privately it was the old tax and spend - and this is what has made people lean more towards the tories, and in some cases use the BNP as a protest vote.

We've also had the ridiculous state of affairs where if people expressed concern over immigration, they were immediately branded racists in oone of the most disgracefull and damaging smear campaigns ever.

This has been my problem with "new" labour - long on spin, short on substance, and now, as far as immigration is concerned, the hens are coming home to roost.

It may be too little too late, but on that we shall have to wait and see.

No-one is advocating a total ban on immigration but things are getting so bad over here, foreign companies are discriminating against British workers to employ foreign labour who are ignoring all health and safety regulations.
This is not being reported by any tv stations.

I get the feeling that this has something to do with your emotional reaction to this issue. But even if the poms there ARE bigotted and prejudice, they don't represent all Brits. You must realise that. As I said before, there are idiots in every shape and form - not just white British. I really couldn't give a toss about a person's race and skin colour.

Seriously I spent years in the UK and rather like the English as a whole-I don't like the ones that come to Australia, a certain type seem attracted to this place-sadly.
