Robert Reich - Racist Redistribution of Wealth

Well lets see. I was on a job site today, a new home construction. My white uncle owns the house being built and the plumbing Co doing the plumbing work. He's filthy rich by the way. I'm a honky myself and I own the AC company doing the AC work, Im not filthy rich but hey Im on my way.

So my uncle is climbing ladders, running pipe, meeting with other contractors, managing his other technicians on other jobs, working 10 hr days while his mexican employee runs pipes and climbs ladders and his white employee runs pipe and climbs ladders. They both make over $50K a year, South Texas.

Me and my brother (both honky crackers) you know the privileged type, climb in the attic, bust our knees, and go home dragging our rears, while I manage the other workings of the co.

The 6 or so stucco guys are all mexicans and speak no english unless you speak spanish. The concrete guys were all mexicans, the helpers are all mexicans. Heck the lovely people that come by in the taco truck every day (they were an hour late today whoohh, I thought I was gonna die) are mexican and speak spanish and english, imagine that?

I had a black helper once, a good friend of mine, he doesn't like this type of work and I say if you've half a brain you wouldn't either, it is not the most glorious and if you can get affirmative action to help you go through school (which he is doing) why would you?

Me I really dont have a choice. I started like the mexicans helpers and worked my way up. Im sure I'll end up like my uncle and still be busting my rear every day with arthritis. Sure I could quite and go to school but I have a family to take care of so I, like my privileged honky uncle, work 10 hr days but for me its really like 14 hr days.

I imagine that these long days and vacationless years will pay off one day and I bet I'll have some rear end hole saying its not fair that whitey sits in his truck with his white collar shirt and tie while his mexican workers do all of the toilsome labor.

I dont care what color you are. You either get of the truck and get to work or get off the job site. If you are mexican, black, white, asian, whatever. If you outperform the next guy you get the next raise. If you show up and do what you are suppose to, you'll do well. If you really show interest, I might even make you a partner, but the government telling me I have to hire this many or that many is complete crap. I cant hardly find any body who will earn a days pay and I dont have time to look for them either. I have a damn business to run.

Honestly I think the mexicans have it figured out. They value family, they do their 8 and go home.

Star for your post, and I betcha, if the truth be told, you haven't seen a 10 hour day in a long time. More like 12 - 14 hours, when you add it all up.

Im sorry but this kind of crap sets me off. I dont see where the basis for this kind of comment or action even comes from. In the circles I run in I see (listed in order) mexicans, puerto ricans, whites, blacks, asians.

I know several mexicans who are supervisors or Forman for large construction co's and several whites who are lazy helpers who will always be helpers. One of my best customers is a blood bank and the manager of the biomed department that I do work for is a black guy. To me he isnt a black guy, hes a dude just like me. I just dont see discrimination in the circles I run in. Do you?

Mostly I just get pissed to think that I may be told some day that I have to hire some one based on their skin color or nationality as well that I am privileged because I am white.

I was raised to work hard, I applied myself, took risks and started my business with $2K that was suppose to go to pay my bills for the month. I had nothing given to me that presented a disadvantage to another race, I have no college degree, or royal blood line, or halo on my head. I work hard just like any else can do.

Oddly though when I went to apply for a grant I discovered that since I am not a minority (which really I am in the area I live in) or female it would be a cold day in hell before I got one. When I wanted to become part of a government project going on here in SA I would have to acquire a DB certification (disadvantaged business) which goes out to minority or female owned companies. Me, my skin pigment is light and I have testicles so I dont qualify because some white with testicles before me gives me an unfair advantage.

Piss on that. I dont need a hand out, Ill make my way regardless and end up helping the affirmative action folks further their cause by being able to say "look even this honky who had nothing is soaring above all the others. See I told you, white people are evil and are suppressing others".

Excellent post! You hit the proverbial nail on the head. I started in construction by first working in a lumber yard. 10 hour days were the norm there. Rain or shine the lumber had to move to the job sites when needed. We built our own loads that we sold . We unloaded and loaded all delivery trucks.

Anyway, that job paved the way for other jobs in construction and the first thing that I noticed on the job sites was the ongoing presence of the owners of the individual trades. These were the guys that often stayed late, came in on weekends or answered my warranty calls. They were also the first to arrive on the job site each morning to make sure the crew was off and running. From there it was a non stop dance from home site to home site.

Nobody cares about equality. People just want more for themselves and have no principles about how they get it.

You obviously misread his statement. He said that the funds should not be available to white males. If the races were reversed; what would have happened?

"Benevolent" heretic? For whom? Certainly not white men! Reich explicitly stated that he didn't want to see stimulus jobs going to white men.....no namby-pamby stuff about "diversity" or "inclusiveness" or set-asides....simply that white men need not apply.

If Reich feels that way, then why doesn't he step down so a woman or minority can have his job? In other words, let's see him put *HIS* money where his mouth is.

By the way, I came late to this discussion because I, like so many other college-educated white men who have faced deliberate discrimination, have turned to truck driving to pay the bills.

As bad as that line of work is, I still find it preferable to selling out my fellow man and woman on the altar of cultural Marxism and deliberate discriminatory policies of Reich and his boss, "typical white person" Obama.
