From the first day i arrived on ATS i wanted to have something that was cute, but still Alien ish lol, So i came up with Gizmo!

In the 5 years i have been here i have kept it within my avatar, Its been dressed up so many times and people have come to know me via my avatar, And i do believe that as a mod it makes me approachable, I have had many new members remembering who i am just by my avvy lol which can be very helpful,

I do love it and i think it will always be a part of my avatar!

I've love Sunsets & Sunrises all my life and the Skye is the middle name of one of my kids. So SolarSkye was what I came up with. I really love your avatar gimme_some_truth and the song by John Lennon.

I think all the avatars on here are filled with art, inspiration and imagination and that makes them all cool for me. My avatar is a part of me and thanks to greeneyedleo for making mine. I have others I use at times, but they all have the Sun in them.

you might be wrong about flying nukes.
You should check this thread out !

www.abovetopsecret.com...

This is in my top 5 funniest threads on ATS

Ya, I kind of refrained from posting to that thread. I could post that I have seen all the weapon storages up close and personal, I could say I have been through the secret level nuclear museum a number of times, I could say I been to nuclear depot maintenance site and seen these badboys broken down in to their sub parts…etc

And all I would get would be a post saying…can you really be sure they are real?

Some fights are just not worth it.......

Occasionally I'll put in something humorous but for the most part it's just me. No great story or anything.

years ago i found the gorilla by using a "Google" search. Since all i had was MSPaint at the time, i painstakingly erased the outside of the gorilla (the white part) and then superimposed it on a texas flag. I used that, in a 150X150 format, for a long time.

Then i joined ATS and got ahold of Photoshop (6 back then, now i use CS3). I made the flag on top and oilfield on bottom and put the gorilla in front of that.

a few months ago i was bored, so i added in the cowboy hat, beer bottle, and cigarette. When i am bored again, i have some boots i am going to add.

My wife joined a forum that i am a part of (i have around 10k posts there and am well known as it is a small, local group). I created this avatar for her to use:

i just added on a purple and yellow polka dot bikini, a bow in the hair, and painted the nails with a "cuban" (she is hispanic). A little makeup topped it off, and then i superimposed it in an ocean scene (she liked the ocean scene).

This is the avatar i use on that other site:

we aren't allowed as much space as this one.

I have thought about changing to this one:

I made it for a member here, but she didn't like it (she is an aggie fan, and hates the longhorn i used).

Some friends chose mine for me. We were all sitting around one Sunday, watching a game on the tube, tossing back a few cold ones, when one of my friends started looking through my comic book collection (I was in my thirties at the time) and noted Carnage thinking it was Spiderman. I corrected him, as geeks like me do, I told him of Carnage's origin and pulled out a few comics for him to look over. After about 20 minutes or so, he said, “hey, he’s you” and showed a few panels to where Carnage is walking through the streets in an overcoat trying to blend in with the normal people and is getting increasingly angered hearing the passersby make rude comments and behaving arrogantly during the Christmas Season. Carnage finally looses it and launches into a violent fit, suitable to his namesake, when he witness some guy explaining to his son an absurd opinion of Santa and the meaning of Christmas. He pummels the guy viciously all the while screaming at him about his lack of intelligence, being rude and arrogant and then he turns to the boy and says “let that be a lesson to you, don’t be an idiot your whole life, like your idiot father”, the kid says, “he’s not my father, he’s a taxi driver”. Carnage replies, “well, there you go”, and walks away.
The other guys in the room all broke out laughing at the accusation and comparison of me to Carnage, citing it as the very reason why they would never go to the mall with me for fear of me doing the same thing. All based on one time, one time, I made a smart a**
comment to some idiot who stepped in front of me while I was looking at something on a shelf at a department store in San Antonio.
But I digress, Carnage has been my personal icon ever since that Sunday with the guys. Chances are, if you see a blog with this avatar, it’s me.

Mine is from a picture I took on the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina.
It was dull and foggy But I liked the way the trees frame the trail and the blaze at the end stands out on the tree.
I have paint shopped it and have a summer, winter and Christmas version.
I guess I'll do spring and fall when the time rolls around.
I did 500 miles in 06 and if plans work out I'll do the other 1678 miles in 2010.
Gives me something to look forward to.

I was chatting with ImaMarty one day in the ATS chatroom, and I said something like. It would be cool to have a avatar of Aldous Huxley with a door on his forehead and eye in the door.

Marty graciously said he would make it, and within 45 mins or so, he had it for me. Marty, you rock !

I chose my avatar based on the idea I try to attain to in my personal life!

Now, let me tell you, that ain't so easy, especially when you spend a lot of time driving in traffic or over at ATS and even sometimes here at BTS.

Mine was a picture of me taken with a cam with the IR filter removed, and a remote control shining IR light on my face, then modified to look like an alien-like figure. I should have used a better resolution but oh well, it works i think. gotta love the Gimp!

My Very first avatar, or attempt at one, was of a photo of Lilies in black and white. That lasted until I found greeneyedleo. I had a couple of different avatars designed by her. My favorite one that she ever designed was of a girl with dark black hair, and red lipstick.

I've had a few other ones, that I've tried fooling around with myself - of pieces of art or pictures that I've seen on the internet and fell in love with. I have tonnes of random pictures just waiting to be made into Avatars. My skillz don't range that far beyond "Paint"....I really should start fooling around with PhotoShop....

Around Halloween I made 6 or 7 Marilyn Monroe Avatars - I was planning on dressing up as Marilyn for Halloween. So, I made a few different avatars. I changed my avi every day for a week until Halloween. Two Birds with one stone, on that little adventure though.

My Current avatar (The Cardinals one) - well, thats because I made a deal with the Devil

- Carrot

It's funny reading through the posts and seeing how many of the avatars no longer match what the posts say they are. At first I was confused, then I noticed the date the thread was started lol. It's been a long day. I picked mine because I like The Wall by Pink Floyd. Both the movie and the album.
