I have known this site for years and it works always. How can this be?
And do you know of other similar weird sites?

www.bored.com...

Try it!

EDIT: it even works when I click the magical ball without looking and then select a two digit number!

Cool site but........Its just mathmatics. Example: The number 97= 9+7=16....97-16=81.........96= 9+6=15....96-15=81. The matrix is that you will always get the same symbol. Play with the numbers and you will see the matrix. Very cool site though!!

Just take the numbers 55 and 38....I am sure you will get the same symbol!!

There are only 9 possible answers 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, and 81. If you look at the table you will notice that all of these numbers have the same symbol. The computer will display that symbol.

A little algebra shows why there are only 9 answers. Let a and b be positive integers less than 10 (single digit counting numbers). The two digit number is 10a+b. The sum of the digits is a+b. Subtracting a+b from 10a+b gives 9a. The answer must be a multiple of 9.

Suppose I select 86 10 times, then ten times the specific symbol should come. How does it know that? I still don't understand it.

Let me put it differently. There are 14 or more symbols. How does the system know which one to select time after time?

If you will notice after every attempt the symbols change positions or completely all together. Take any number lets say 15= 1+5=6.....15-6=9,.....Look at that symbol, then pick any number you wish and follow the same steps and the symbol will be the same as the number 9.....There are only so many number combinations for this matrix (answers) and the same symbol is placed on each of those numbers.............

Yes I noticed that after you told me. Must be dense cause I still don't understand how it works. But I did notice that when I select the same number twice or more times it does not work.

Of course it isn't
Don't be paranoid, there is no such thing as witchcraft. Though I would look very fetching on a broomstick

I have to correct myself, it does work if I select the same number time after time.

It is finally starting to come...it will stew for a while and then I will think: o that is how it works! I never investigated it, but now I have. It looks like a lot of options but it is not.

Jep cracked it. I took a piece of paper to see what 99 minus 18 is, 98 minus 17 and so on. It is 81 for the 99-90. Then for 89-80 it is 72. And low and behold 91 and 72 have the same symbol

This little and nice program tells you how much one takes at face value. At least I did till I started to figure it out (with much appreciated hints from others here)

EDIT: The stewing took me 8 minuts

I'm rubbish at maths but i can see patterns (i get confused by numbers themselves,
). Due to the question you are set, your answer will be one of the following numbers:

0 3 6 9 11 18 27 33 34 36 38 43 45 54 58 59 63 66 72 81

This set of numbers will all share the same symbol everytime.

This has been around for a number of years...

It got a friend of mine so mad, they thought there must be cameras in the screen/on the site looking at which symbol he was viewing
... it is just patterns and maths, but pretty cool all the same

Yes I figured it out already
Once I took a pen and a piece of paper it became transparant very soon. They shift the symbols every time to disguise the pattern of 81, 72 and so on.

Hahah I understand the feeling and that feeling was stronger than my ratio

Yeah... all slight of hand and trickery... but it's pretty fun and keeps you guessing for a while

Cheers Greta
