Well, I can understand how sometimes loneliness and isolation
can make you a lethargic, I may be able to assist a little in your
quest for information about what you call, Werewolves.
I warn you now, the experiment I mention in this account, shouldn't
be attempted. The reference to 'Fur Men' isn't my labelling... that's
what my sister assured me she had heard.
'The Angel Land' or England, has apparently been known for many
years as a haven for the last of the 'Old-World' Werewolves.
My sister, at the time of all this, was 19 years of age and was
working in the Midlands, it was 1978 and Christmas Eve.
As she was walking home from work at a local store, she told
me that her thoughts were on the Christmas edition of 'Top Of
The Pops' on BBC 1. She had just turned the corner of a street
to wait for the bus to get her home, when about 100 feet away,
on some wasteland that connected to an old railroad yard, she
saw a strange sight, which would be nothing compared with what
else she would see that night.
There among the bald tyres, smashed bottle glass and broken
forgotten funiture was a white 'hole'! Her words were: 'it was
white hot, sparks sputtered and dripped from the edges and the
whiteness seemed to be color that was just... I dunno, just wrong".
She could smell sulpher and a faint smell of toffee! she never
explained that. Anyway, as she sneaked across the empty road
and hunkered down behind some Elderflower bushes, she noticed
the figures standing 'sentinel-like' at the sides of the so-called hole.
The dark shapes were talking, and my sister said that their voices
seemed 'slushy' and the accent was unknown to her. Then she peered
closer.
I asked her to write down what she saw and this is it, I've cleaned
it up a bit:
Seven foot, maybe taller and wide shoulders. Long haired (not unusual
in those days!) and wore really tight suits. (I inquired about what kind
of suits, expecting a silver 'spaceman' type, but she said the suits were
business suits with big 'kipper' ties and a hankerchief in the breast
pocket)
Faces long and looking like half dog, half wolf. Big hands and long
side-burns (again, not ususual for that time).
The conversation she overheard went like this: "...taking the last of
us and going to Colorado... using salt and the 5 star, asking for
Astirith (? excuse spelling) and giving blood of a lamb...we Fur Men
will no longer (uninteligable) their God's way"
She told me that they held some sort of amulets towards the crackling hole
and mumbled a possible incantation. Then she saw another appear
through the hole.
This one was naked and she lost her nerve then and fled.
I know that for several nights afterwards, she never came home again
that way and she suffered some bad nightmares too.
Hope this helps.
I don't know what it all means, but
