The United States and Israel have signed an agreement to prevent Hamas from rearming following any ceasefire in the Gaza strip. US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice said the agreement would contribute towards a "durable ceasefire", after signing the document with her Israeli counterpart Tzipi Livni in Washington.
