Awesome find! I had to look twice, because I thought the picture in the article was the same as the G E picture. But the images dont seem to match up. Now I really would like to find someone who can read both of them

The second line of that one also says "Om mani padme hum" so it's more of the same stuff.

Should have realised of course, writing "Free Tibet!" or "Chinese go home!" would be likely to land someone with 10 years hard labour

Just found this page - it basically confirms that it is the Avalokitesvara mantra. If you scroll down, they have a pic of writing on the glacier there as well..

HAha that is awesome I've seen that pic before too forgot about it though.

You have to scroll a very very very tiny bit to the right to see it for those that don't see anything at first....zoom in as far as can go in satellite mode then scroll right a little bit.
