Obama Driving Surge in Gun Sales, Firearms Groups Say

www.foxnews.com

President-elect Barack Obama's election has spurred a surge in gun sales, firearms retailers and enthusiasts say, as gun owners brace for what they believe will be a new era of gun control in Washington.

An electronic news service that covers outdoor news has even named Obama its "Gun Salesman of the Year."

Firearms associations began to suspect that political considerations were driving gun sales late last year as the number of background checks increased. But end-of-year figures showed a big spike in background checks for the last three months of 2008, and in November, the month Obama was elected, the number of background checks was 42 percent greater than in November 2007.

Swat, one way or the other your guns will be going, but it will be interesting to see how the gun loving Americans will react to this.

The perps have tried various tactics to daet but soon an event will come that will make it so. When your about to introduce great changes the last thing you want is a well armed people.

Well then, one way or the other they will be taken alot of loses trying.
Our guns are the guarantee to our freedom in this nation. We will not allow either the neo-cons or the liberals to take them.

Q: do you really think that a criminal would care if you told them they weren't aloud to have that gun anymore?

A: no, they would shot you smile and walk away...

He's not even in office yet and already he's stimulation the economy.

Guns are expensive items.

Perhaps we need to start rumors that he will make the sales of computers, TV's and other small items illegal so that everyone makes their purchases now.

Well I would like to believe you are right but from what I have seen so far Americans are taking everything on the chin. There is much bull and bluster here on atas from Americans about what they would or woulf not do in sit x but what would thy really do when the time comes.

What if they jsut change the law to make it illegal to own guns? I pressume most people are law abiding so if you dont hand them over and then you get a knock on the door what are you going to do, shoot the copper, I doubt that. You might be able to hide them but if they have your details as owning guns what do you do when they lock you up.

Here in the Uk we had an amnesty for people to hand guns in. I do believe the school shooting here was the reason for it. The usual lone nutter who kills aload of children then its hand over your guns. I agree if American want to hold on to their country they need to hold onto their guns.

I'm not supporting the disarmament of civilians, nor fighting it...

... but yes, I think it would be pretty interesting to watch.

Not for the same reasons though.

How long do you think you can last in a standoff against the feds?
I might just take bets on that.

A perfect response to these claims would be "I'm glad they're supporting our economy."

I cant say if Ive purchased more firearms do to Obama than I would have if it had been McCain. Either way, the price of 7.62x39 has gone up, and that is upsetting.

Honestly, I think Obama will try some sort of gun control measures, either after a "terrorist" strike, a gun free school zone shooting, or what have you and the fools on the hill will rubberstamp it.

Personally, I dont care, if I need to be labled a felon for my belief in freedom so be it. If America is set to turn in its liberty, Ill turn in with it. A world without a free nation is not a world I wish to be part of.

Everyone seems to underestimate the cleverness of the government.Right now on all the books in every state there are laws making it illegal for convicted felons to own weapons. All they have to do is make more offenses a felony, and peoples guns are gone.Right now in the state where I live there is a law that places a felony charge on late child support payments. How hard would it be to make traffic violations a felony? You have to watch your back now more than ever.People are expecting them to come thru the front door. They may just take the floor right out from under you.

I could last quite awhile I imagine. Because I wouldn't be alone.

Everybody I know with guns would help me out, and that's a lot of people up here in Maine.

Plus, I've got LOTS of ammunition to go around and a few friends who were in the military at one time or another.

I'm gonna have to say it is more due to the climate of uncertainty and threat of loss of police partrols and hungry roaming from city to city that has spurred sales more than Obama. I've been watching the boards for many years now and it is only in the last couple that arming up is the thing to do. Still looking for a utility piece myself. Shotgun probably.

The US should look at its wide spread gun ownership as a piece of national defense and just work to get these people commiting crimes with guns off the streets and getting their little brothers (term meant to be racially inclusive) into apprenticeships for skilled work at the least.

teach a man to fish....

One call to arms, and every able-bodied gun owner descends on Washington, DC, and that would be a do-over in Congress.

They can no more outlaw my guns, my ownership, and my possession of firearms, than they can outlaw my right to free speech, trial by a jury of my peers, on and on.

It would be our right, even our obligation to meet in DC and express our right of assembly.

If about four or five million pissed off gun owners showed up, you'd see some chicken$H!Ts do some backing up.

Magic, you can sit in your European cocoon, and wish all you want. You hate Americans, and for one, your opinion means diddly squat. But never, ever underestimate pissed off Americans.

We do what no one else ever has, nor ever could.

I don't want to see this play out. If you look at it logically, a large confiscation of firearms would set off dissent, the likes of which have never been seen before in this country. You will see protests and riots that will make the vietnam protests look like a cheerful parade.

A lot of people will be injured and maybe even killed if this comes to pass. I hope this administration knows that trying to take their firearms would be one HUGE can of worms. Politically it would be a fiasco. The last gun grab is still reverberating in congress. I don't think any of the incumbants want to put their name on it and would rather have the junior members stick their necks out. The ones who have been there a while know that they will not get re-elected if they vote for it.

Sadly, the people who bribe them may make it so that they do not have a choice. I pray this does not come to pass. I guess we will all see.

Personally, if there were a Waco-style standoff of this type involving Federal violation of our Second Amendment RIGHTS, I feel many like minded individuals would attempt to converge on these Fascists to assist in your standoff. I know I would.

I'll be bringing plenty of .45ACP, .308, and 12 guage ammo to help restock.

I'd like to see them fight effectively on two or three fronts. It would be fun to lynch these Fascist robots, maybe even televise or webcast it!

BTW- Love your avatar! I've got the Gadsden flag tattooed on my ribs, close to my heart!
