Gee someone trying to push their religious agenda on someone else. How novel!

I'm pushing nothing but the RULES OF ATS.

Get a grip.

However, shock treatment is kind of like prescribing leaches but nothing surprises me on this forum. Hell, why not go all the way and give her a full lobotomy? That's completely draconian!

You obviously know nothing about electroshock therapy.
Allowing this girl to live the way she is - is draconian.

That absolutely has no bearing on the fact that electroshock therapy isn't the end all and be all fix for these problems, and if anything it is one of the worst.

By what means do you come to the conclusion it's one of the *worst*?

Not heckling you - I'm most curious?

Have you ever read of seen anything concerning electroshock other than a cult film about a psycho ward with nurse Ratched?

Put her to *sleep* - (this will help her get some rest at least) - give her mass muscle relaxants (again - let her rest) and then give her a wee shock to get her brain back in order?

Hey, I'm not a doctor, and this is just an idea I've read up on and heard testemonies about, but, if she were my daughter? Short of a long term drug plan or a lobotomy I'd be tempted to try anything (if in fact of course the claim is true) - including electroshock.

It's been demonized and horrified when there are far more invasive and horrifying *cures* out there to be sure.

BTW, "God Damn" is not a violation of T&C.

???

The ATS rules state:

Circumventing the censors to provide a misspelled simulation of a curse word is simply not allowed.

How is the way it's posted not a violation?

Also - someone posted it's a *noun* (too funny that) so therefore not a violation.
Well the *F* word is a verb too but that's a violation, lol...

**********
ON TOPIC -
**********

I've been looking more and more into ECT.

It's not outlawed or banned in the USA - in fact it's enjoying a revival.

The poster who stated it's been outlawed is mistaken.

You’d think after all the years this poor child has suffered they’ at least try it!

*P*E*A*C*E*

EDIT:

To the post below me *damn* is a VERB not a noun.

I suggest you stay on topic in at least a part of your post to adhere to ATS rules.

lol

Noun.

And it isn't a violation, in fact, it isn't even CLOSE.

Wan't to know how and why? Because "circumventing" the "filters" is adverting censorship for profane words.

Obviouslly *damn* is not one of those words that is considered profane.

What are you talking about again?

Technically, he's right. It's written many different ways. I've written it numerous times in books and poems, and I write it as two separate words. Basically, on a technicality, he didn't circumvent anything, they just didn't filter that form of the phrase.

He didn't circumvent the censors or "provide a misspelled simulation of a curse word." That's how. Take it from someone who's probably been banned from this site more times than you've even logged in.

Which makes me wonder, the F word is censored right? But why isn't ''FOOKED" censored? Oh well.

Regardless, I've never heard of this before, but I would let them do anything they want if it would help her get rid of the laughing problem.

Hell, if it's one of those ''extreme'' cases it should hurt like hell, or at least have hurted like hell in the past. (people who have laughed their lungs out should know what I'm talking about)

I doubt the veracity of the story. Think about it. Does she fall asleep laughing? Wake up laughing? Eat while laughing? Have bowel movements while laughing?

I thought it was a verb? *scratches head and wanders off*

It is a verb. See you have to think about how we just stop using things correctly. "God damn" is an action phrase. God being the damner...if you will.

The way you said it is an action phrase and damn is the verb.

Now - if you said God damned...like, that God damned thingywhacker over there. Then it's more of a descriptor...but it's still an action descriptor. God damned the thing and made it a God damned thing.

Like that.

All's I'm saying is...I believe it's a verb in this instance.

Blah yes damn is a verb -_-

I was delerious.

But anyways, fooked isn't censored because it sounds like some chinese food... or something.

And the girl can't stop laughing because she eat some food with butterfly eggs in it, and they're tickeling her tummy!

=)

Eather way, this girl needs treatment and anything that can help her, can only help.

The couple say the situation worsened when she reached two years old because she lost her ability to speak and could only laugh.

The girl's father, Xu Weiming, a construction worker, has spent virtually all of his wages, plus extra money he has borrowed, for medical treatment but to no avail.

"Seeing her laughing, we feel even sadder than if she were crying," he said.

A neurologist at Chongqing Medical College is now suggesting a brain scan to try and establish the cause of the girl's condition.
