The other day, I saw a very strange animal.

It's fur was a dark brown, or black, and slightly shaggy from to look of it. It walked on four legs. It had large paws, much like a dogs, and it's tails was what you would expect to see on perhaps a german shepherd, a coyote, or a wolf. It's ears were pointed upward. The strangest thing about this animal, however, was that it was about the size of a full grown deer.

When I saw it, it was about twilight, and the animal was slinking into the forest from a field. I saw it two times after that, and my friend said she's seen it twice as well, just a large, dog like shape, almost wolf like, but the size of a deer.

Your first though may be that I saw a bear, but the animal was walking like a dogs, and, as I said, it's body structure was more narrow and streamlined than a bears. Also, it being a bear wouldn't describe the tail.

Any ideas?

Well I have seen coyotes about the size of small deer on occasion but it's normally quite rare for them to get even to that size (at least where I'm at). Just get a camera if other people are seeing it then chances are you'll see it again and snap a picture of it.

Other than that don't have a clue.

I have heard of a creatur called the Cucacabra (SP?). THe description they carry have a tendancy to varry a great deal, but have a few defining traits. Although claming it was about the size of a deer is new to me, I noted a number of the things you were describing fit within the folklore sorounding it. Probably best to start carrying a camera arround incae you see it again.

Here in the Philippines sightings like that are not uncommon among rural folk. They are considered mythological beasts. I've heard of 2nd, 3rd hand accounts of giant dogs or giant pigs prowling at night.

Could it have been one of these big fellas? Irish Wolf Hound. They are as big as it gets, height-wise. Luckily they also come with a friendly temperament

I guess it really boils down to what a full grown deer for your area is. I live in Ohio. Here, deer are about the size of small horses and will mess up your car and keep running if you hit one. Now my friend in Florida says that the deer there is are about the size of large dog like a massif or a great dane. So it is all about perception of the animal to what your observation was made. We need more info and perhaps a photo to make a good analysis.
