The Time Clock Has Run Out: Israel Ready to Strike Iran

www.newsmax.com

Informed sources in Washington tell Newsmax that Israel indeed will launch a strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities soon – possibly in just days as President George W. Bush prepares to leave office.

The reason: The time clock has begun to run out. Iran is close to acquiring a nuclear device under the control of its radical president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Mohamed ElBaradei said in June that Iran would have a nuclear weapon in as little as six months.

That six-month period has passed.

Reports of Israel’s decision to imminently launch strikes, although unconfirmed, would seem to contradict the Bush stance outlined in a front-page New York Times story last week, which asserted that Bush rejected a plea from Israel last year to help it raid Iran’s main nuclear complex.

The Times said Israel was rebuffed after it requested from the U.S. specialized bunker-busting bombs that it needs to attack Iran’s nuclear complex at Natanz. The U.S. also reportedly nixed permission to the Israeli warplanes to fly over Iraqi territory to reach Iran.

Israel’s requests to the U.S. for military assistance came as the Jewish state was reportedly angry over a U.S. intelligence assessment in late 2007 that concluded Iran had effectively suspended its development of nuclear weapons.

But an investigative report circulated by IAEA chief ElBaradei late last year disclosed that Iran was continuing to carry out uranium enrichment and had already established 6,000 centrifuges for enriching uranium, of which 3,800 were then in operation.

WWIII here we come in 4...3...2...1...

Then again these threats have been going on for years! I'm very scared if this is legit, for the whole world. Iran is no Iraq/Afghanistan, I've been researching there military/country in general a lot lately, and the potential damage they can cause to the usa/isreal/global economy is not something we need. We can't forget they also have Russia/China and Pakistan said they would be on Iran's side.

I hope this is not happening, What do you guys think? Please no Ignorant/ Over patriotic comments.

I can forsee the upheaval against US forces in Iraq should Isreal try anything against Iran. Lots of Shiites live in Iraq and will no doubt reignite Matuda Al Sadars gang and make this yet again another crisis with massive implications.

Hold on to your hats.

Yep, I am sure they will announce it to the world so that Iran will be on full alert. That is just the way to operate a military operation. Full disclosure and transparency.Israel's time isn't running out. Even under Obama they will have time to do what they need to or have we forgotten that Israel has many supporters in Congress?

Hmmm...seems inevitable but it also seems like it's taking forever.
Maybe they will just keep posturing and nothing will happen.

I think we're approaching some very interesting times. Wars, rumors of wars, geological upheaval, famines, disease, poverty, strife, and the likelihood of a war between Israel and the main forces standing between them and claiming the Temple Mount and rebuilding the third temple of Jerusalem. Keep your eyes open for the day Israel reclaims that piece of sacred land because in the blink of an eye our entire world will be permanantly changed.

If this happens, then I hope to god that the US don't openly show support for Israel's actions. I can't see many countries openly cheering them on, because of the ramifications, but if the United States openly agreed with what they were doing, when it came for retaliation by Iran or it's allies, I'm sure the US would wade in to support Israel with troops. Then, ladies and gentlemen..things won't be good.

Anyone else think Israel have lost control lately? First the massive attack on Gaza that's started to draw alot of condemnation, and now this? Assuming it's true, of course.

Correct me If I'm wrong, but Iran controls Hormuz which over 40% of the worlds oil is exported everyday..... The supreme leader also said numerous times, that if attacked; he will respond to U.S. interests. All I can hope is that U.S. doesn't support Israel, but we all know that isn't gonna happen

I would suggest that if Israel has plans, no one in the media knows anything about it.

We've been hearing the attacks on Iran are imminent for years.

Reminds me of Alexander on the Hydaspes facing the forces of India. Many simulations for attack, time after time. Much motion, much activity, much noise.

After a while, the forces on the other side of the river relaxed. After all, one can't stay on full alert forever.

While looking one way, Alexander picked a small force, crossed the river north, and was among the Indian forces before they knew it.

Israel has never, ever been anticipated, exactly as anticipated, with one exception.

When and if Israel strikes, the Iranians will be the second last to know.

The press will be the last.

If an Israeli strike on Iran occurs - when ever it occurs - I believe it will be both Israel's and the United States' downfall.

Israel is surrounded by countries and groups who would love nothing more than to see their destruction. Syria, Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas would immediately launch a simultaneous attack on Israel. I believe Jordan and Pakistan would soon aid.

The United States would get involved, but that many entities against just Israel and the United States is simply too overwhelming. Not to mention Russia would see this opportunity to finally crush the United States and would supply these countries with weapons.

Civil unrest and attacks against embassies and consulates would occur in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Afghanistan, and Iraq. The latter four cannot contribute much militarily either way. Nor would they, I don't think. It's hard to tell what Egypt and Saudi Arabia's reactions would be, but I can't see them going against the entire Middle East to support Israel and the United States.

This is a war Israel and the United States simply cannot win. It would be in their best interest to not go through with this.

United States are not going to back down from anybody if Isreal is destroyed or harmed.

The US is only 4 percent of the world's population.

But we got more than enough bullets to make up that margin.

Those Washington 'informed sources' are telling Newsmax
that Israel has 'plans'...
that in no way means that any operation will take place on Iran's facilities.

Israel has too much to lose if it conducts a sneak attack between now & inauguration day... Obama already has told the world he is open to discussions with American enemies like Iran- that Bush refused to open talks with.

I will say, it looks as if Israel is trying to draw Iran into the Gaza fray...
most likely through their army proxy Hezbollah. If Iran makes a dumb
tactical move like sending thousands of martyrs in bomber-vests against
the Israeli' army sourrounding Gaza, Then Israel will have a excuse to
attack the Iranian homeland by air (missiles, drones, jets, bombers)

Who knows what kind of decisions will be made at a decisive moment.

I believe you're underestimating the support of Israel. Israel has provided a lot of technology and training assistance to China's millitary in the past decade and a half. India is a close Israeli ally and, especially if Pakistan got involved, would almost certainly side with Israel. Many of Russia's enemies nations like the Czechs, Georgians, and Poland are allies with Israel. Also throw the UK, Turkey, and Italy into the Israel's strong allies category. Finally, Germany, though not approving of Israel's actions, would never directly side against her in armed conflict as the wounds from WWII are still deep as is the German government's appologetic stance over the war. You also have to consider Australia and Canada as allies as they will fight alongside America in virtually any scenario which should arise.

Bottom line, the world would be essentially split into 3 sections, Arab/Russians, Israel/Allies, and neutral/China/France/Germany. I personally believe that Arab/Russian wouldn't effectively turn back, let alone win a war against the Israeli side, especially considering the fact that you have at least the top 4 air forces in the world all on the same side. (US, Israel, UK, India) based on technology & training.

Novus, your wishful thinking won't get it done.

Every single time non-Westerners have determined to fight Westerners, the slaughters were considerable. Israel is a nation of immigrant Westerners, thus their lop-sided victories, even when outnumbered twenty to one.

You suggest that Syria, Iran, Hamas, and Hizballah would join forces and wipe out Israel. Your grasp of ongoing events, as well as your grasp of history is a bit confusing.

You and we, can all see how effective, and what a formidable force Hamas is right now. Break out a book and see how well Syria has done against Israel.

Hizballah gave the Israelis a bit of a problem, but I assure you that those mistakes have since been corrected, and it won't go the same way next time.

Iran, or if you wish - Persia - has gotten its ass kicked every single time they met Western forces for the past 2,500 years, quite a record. They not only lost every single war against Westerners, but they were slaughtered in the process, in spite of vastly outnumbering the Westerners who slaughtered them.

And Russia wants no more of the US than the US wants a piece of Russia. Besides, if the balloon goes up, we're likely to be fortunate enough to see a general Islamic uprising.

Which would mean all Western nations would be more concerned with stomping out their local fires rather than fighting each other.

And this is a war that Israel and the US, if they decided to, would certainly win. Just as long as they don't ease up, and go in to completely break the Iranian will to fight for another millennia or two. Very doable. And without ground forces.

And by the way. Traditionally, Arabs hate Persians. No love lost there.
