what is mexico preparing for?!?!?

My guess is if the Mexican military is at the border for any other reason than the drug war, it would be to keep the thousands of illegal immigrants (& maybe Americans) from going back into their country when/if the economy & dollar tanks. I doubt they would be stupid enough to invade America unless they were allies with Venezuela & Russia. But really what would they have to gain?

I was saying it isn't logistically possible for the military of Mexico to invade and occupy the US... It is impossible to occupy the US without express support of the people or the military (either or) except after a major catastrophic national disaster and Mexico's military wouldn't even be able to contend with the populous of armed citizens. You can insert Canada for Mexico if you like, same result but your inferring some racial bias into the conversation or something which is not there.

As has already been said, Mexico is at war right now. The cartels own an increasingly larger number of the military and some of that increased military presence along the border is used to protect the drug shipments from the decreasing number of honest law enforcement and military personell in Mexico who are trying to stop the shipments.

I do, however, think it is very likely that this war will continue to spill into our side of the border. We really need to have an increased military presence of our own patroling our Southern border because our border patrol is outmanned and out gunned at the moment.

Well I red reports that it's already happening. People are moving to Mexico because it's cheap and they know the US is going to hell. Just see Jesse Ventura for example. He's no fool.

Maybe they are worried that Yellowstone Caldera is going to erupt and they expect mass evacuations heading into Mexico. That makes more sense than anything else guessed at!

What they are doing is part of the Merida Plan, using the military to fight the drug cartels and since there are a lot of drug users in the USA, it is their biggest market, a lot of drug mules, violence, kidnappings, corruption, are going on on both sides of the border.

What would be ideal to happen is for the US to stop its drug consumption. That is why the border is having so much drug cartel movement.
Also, once the drugs enter the US, I have never heard of how it gets distributed. I really haven't known of any huge bust on this side of the border. There's a lot of corruption up here as well.

You hear about some huge busts in the border states quite often. I think one of the problems is they don't make national news very frequently.

Even if the US ceased it's illicit drug use this war would continue, BTW. Truth be told, human smuggling is probably as big a business for the cartels as drug smuggling is. Also, in many cases, it is easier to get the drugs into a shipping container and onto boats headed for Asia & Europe from the US than it is from Mexico. Less scrutiny of shipments coming out of the USA, I suppose.

I'm in the process of turning it into a bumper sticker, ala the old "Somewhere in Texas a village is missing their idiot" stickers which became so annoying up here in the Pacific NW.

I really don't bother worrying about these things that I can't control anymore.. but just an FYI for those who say they wouldn't stand up to the American Army... America has been supplying and training the Mexican Army for quite some time now. American Leaders have shown they have no problem selling out their citizens; the knowledge is public that the NAU is in effect; and lest we forget, the CIA and Mexican Gov't have created this war on drugs and yet quite often, we find they are the suppliers.

Invasion? eh.. If I were to guess, it would likely be something that the American Gov't is in cohorts with. But come on.. really? Some of you buy the war on drugs bs still?

I really wouldnt worry about the mexican military, if you even wanna call it a military. Lets not even pretend that it would be a challange, It might be good training for our troops but not a challange. Our civillian population alone would wipe them out, But anywase im not gonna take this to serious, There just not a threat.

You cannot be "invaded". No country with nuclear weapons can be invaded WW2 style.
If things get serious that country will launch it's missiles even if they know they will be destroyed too.

You can only be invaded from within or with the cooperation of your government

it's not the mexicans or the blacks that are making the south poor. common now think a little harder. could be the prevailing attitude down there that keeps everybody poor. the south to me is a lot like some third world nations. every possible resource available to them geographically. plenty of exportable natural resources. plenty of ways to make food. plenty of strong healthy young men to create a work force, and absolutely no decent excuse as to why they still haven't gotten their S together and done something to better themselves.

Actually your statement is one if not the only reason the "South" wanted to seceed (spelling?) kinda like Africa, all those resources and it's controlled by outsiders instead of the indigenous people.

More likely Mexico is lining their border with troops to keep their brothers from coming back home when there really aren't any more jobs here for them.

The military is probably along the border to keep all the illegals that are here in the U.S. from returning.

Mexico is having their own crisis and they can not afford for all the people here to go back to Mexico. They want them to stay here. But as unemployment goes up here, the illegals will be going back home.

Think about it, it actually makes sense. They will stop the Mexican's from coming back, as they will in mass, especially when food becomes scarce here etc.
