Israel Tells Gazans To Brace For War Escalation

www.examiner.com

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (Map, News) - Israel dropped bombs and leaflets on Gaza Saturday, pounding suspected rocket sites and tunnels used by Hamas militants and warning of a wider offensive despite frantic diplomacy to end the bloodshed.

Egypt hosted talks aimed at defusing the crisis, but war had the momentum on a bloody day on which more than 30 Palestinians, many of them noncombatants, were killed.

At hospitals, distraught relatives - men in jeans and jackets and women in black Islamic robes - sobbed and shrieked at the loss of family. Flames and smoke rose over Gaza City amid heavy fighting.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas predicted a "waterfall of blood" unless all parties adhere to a U.N. call for a cease-fire. But Israel has said the Security Council resolution passed Thursday was unworkable, and Hamas, the Islamic group whose government controls Gaza but is not recognized internationally, was angry that it was not consulted.

I and others in the last couple of days have posted details of the failed efforts at a cease-fire by the U.N. Security Council. It looks like both sides have just escalated the hostilities, and neither one wants to keep the war from turning into a bloodbath.

If the rest of the world would include Hamas in their negotiations that would go a long way toward a resolution. That's a difficult concession to make, as many do not see Hamas as a legitimate power, but something must be done before this war becomes even worse than it already has been, perhaps drawing in other nations.

What could they do more? Nuke them? Use chemical weapons? Because they already used phospherous weapons on gaza.

So... massive artillery barrage that compare to WW2?

What are they gonna do?

It's sick that the world governments are ignoring the government of gaza, how would we like it if the world decided gordon brown wasn't elected and thus we weren't a proper democracy so they weren't going to talk to us.

How do you expect to come to a conclusion in gaza if you wont talk to the people that live there, oh wai- the only solution would be to......

horrible.

Hamas is not a government. Its a criminal organization that is holding 1.5 million people hostage. Hamas antagonizes recognized UN member states and has no right to exist. That is why the governments of the world aren't going to do anything. Hamas is doomed and won't escape its destiny this time.

Whats even sicker is the general lack of response from the "gutless" Arab world in respect to defending the innocent women and children from harm in there, I strongly suspect they are thinking the worse the civilian casualties and damage the more sympathy the Arab cause can get from the international community.

Yes this a fact, now here is the thing, to be honest one of two things must occur, the Palestinians must be wiped out completely or Israel must either take what comes at them for neighbors and get to negotiating, they didn't like the PLO, so they ousted them and then hoped that Hamas would lose in the elections.

Unfortunately their hopes and prayers were not answered so now they have to deal with Hamas and try and find a replacement, problem is any replacement sanctioned by the Israelis and by force will not last long and we will be re-living ground hog day, there is no end in sight to this madness until someone unleashes a few nukes.

No, is Israel the ones that has been holding the Palatines oppress for decades, Dependant on their mercy to work, eat and earn a decent living.

Go back and learn your history because obviously is lacking.

And as for the Arab world no doing anything thank the American government and their deceiving deeds for that, the Arabs will be owning America very soon as America is going to need their financial generosity to be able to borrow and finance our government, the Arabs are very patient and when they start to own America Israel will be nothing but a thing of the past.

Because they will be dictating polices in our own government.

Learn the facts on that too, China is already getting tired of buying the America debt while inundating our markets with poisoned goods that our own government doesn't regulate due to the influences of China into our economy, so now is up to rich oil Arab nations to start opening their wallets.
their influences will be in our financial system.

Israel will never be able to wipe the Arabs in the middle east as they surround their nation from all corners and demographically eventualy Israel will be absorved into them that is something that is unavoidable.

Israel has taken the task to believe that they can control their borders and the Arab world but that is nothing but an illusion.

Hamas was removed from office when they turned against Fatah in June of 2007 and murdered their "brothers". Hamas has been targeted for destruction...even by the Arab states. Hamas is doomed!!

Most of the Arab world sees hamas as a problem and would like to see them destroyed too. Remember, Egypt was shooting at Palestinians that were trying to get into Egypt even at the first of this conflict.

You're living in the past Marge that world no longer exists. Or did you not see the mass suicide of the old world order?

So you're one of those that think everything in this world has a price and can be purchased? Enough said.

China is the bride of the West, young lady. Wrong again.

No Arab/Israel conflict exists its all dead. You're living in the pre November 2005 world.

I'm guessing the Israelis are dropping leaflets to warn civilians to get away from areas in which the war will be escalated, but where would the civilians go? If all of Gaza becomes a combat zone, they're trapped. Few if any neighboring countries would take Gazan refugees.

At the same time, Hamas must be blamed for at least some of the collateral damage, as they shoot rockets from areas where they are surrounded by women and children. They may be trying to use these civilians as human shields, and it's heartless.

My advice: bring Hamas to the bargaining table with the rest of the world. If that doesn't work, then think about escalating the war.

I don't think the Arabs would ever allow the Israelis to be absorbed by, or assimilated into, their nations. The ages-old animosity toward the Jews wouldn't allow for it.

The world's hopes that the Palestinians could be assimilated into Israeli society have been pretty much dashed too.
